No thanks. The total MSRP on my library is over 40K.. Couple that with a bunch of OOPs and there's no way I'd be able to replace everything.

Weird question. The answer depends almost entirely on the monetary value of each person's collection. With few exceptions, you might as well ask "Is your DVD collection worth $10,000?"

DVDSpot.com lists the MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) of your collection. If you want, you can enter in what you paid for a DVD as well and track what you paid for your collection, but that's hard to do when you've been picking up movies for several years.Originally Posted by Living Dead

Personally I use this http://www.wakefieldsoft.com/videolist/ (which is primarily for the PDA but it also has a PC component to it as well). One of the things it tallies is the total "cost" (whether that is MSRP or what you paid depends upon what you put in the cost field Originally Posted by Living Dead

I'd need closer to $100,000......lots of OOP that would be tough to replace.
I would consider it. It would be quite a job to haul it all away or ship it somewhere *shudder*
Not a pissing contest, just the result of steady purchasing (since '98 for DVD) with disposable income (mostly :-)

not a chance...I spent WAY more than $10,000 on my dvds...sure if I were to resell I might not get that much for them, but they are a part of me...I couldn't sell them all off... a small chunk, yes...all, not a chance!

Yes, IF I could buy some of them back later.

No way. Although I don't know exactly how much I have spent on it, I know I spent well over $10,000 on my collection (~2000 titles, link below not updated in a while).
I wish I input purchase prices in DVD-Profiler, but unfortunately starting using that software well after my collection began and didn't have the data still on hand. It provides MSRPs, but aside from insuring the collection, that is a fairly meangingless description of "value" to me.

Considering I have just over 100 DVDs, I'd happily sell it for $10,000.
Heck, I'll even give a discount. Only $8,500. Hurry. First offer takes 'em all!

most of us have definitely paid more than $10k for our collections, but it is hard to believe that many are valued over that.
i just can't believe that someones collection is truly valued at over $50k, when "Salo" is worth only $800 (unless you have 15 or so which is very unlikely). even with 1500 DVD's i am sure 90% are mass produced titles not valuing more than $3-5.

I'm pretty sure that most of us are looking at the MSRP of our collection, because that's what it would need to be insured at.Originally Posted by scott1598

So you are saying you could re-buy 90% of your DVDs for $3-5? Otherwise, I don't understand your idea of "value". Originally Posted by scott1598

90% of my DVDs I would cite their value as their replacement cost. Unless I don't want the DVD (10%), I don't see how the value could be less.
If you are asking "what would your DVD collection fetch on the open market?" that is another question (and likely the answer would be $3-5 per DVD).

Including my DVD-R collection of concerts & wrestling? Probably not. If not including DVD-Rs, then yeah (only if the $10 grand was tax free).

I used out of pocket costs. MSRP would be double. IF an offer were to take place I would actually expect much less than out of pocket.Originally Posted by Shagrath
