I am look forward to get this on ebay and was wondering how many copies of this dvd was printed.

This is only known by the Criterion company and they are not telling. And do a search because there has to be several threads discussing this topic already.

why would anyone look forward to getting a bootleg?

i am planning to get the authentic version to complete my collection

Sold my authentic, sealed copy on Ebay for $800 about 2 years ago. Parting with that was the hardest thing I've had to do in recent memory.

... but I used the money to buy a lot more DVD's.

Last time I checked, it was getting harder to distinguish the authentic ones from the fakes, as the bootleggers were getting better at it.

collection of every criterion in existence?

I had read a story a few years back about some millionaire cinephile that was trying to collect every DVD ever released. Wonder if he's still at it...

.... or perhaps simply a collection of all the various <b><>SALO<i></b> DVDs

At this point, there are probably a lot more bootlegs in print than Criterion ever issued. I've seen a store that every now and then has a section for the "Criterion" SALO, with multiple copies priced at under $20 each. Yeah, right .....
