It's a fullscreen version of the movie. I would have liked to have it but that really turned me off. I'm sure there are still plenty of copies on the retail shelves if anybody wants one.

Wouldn't be surprised if it gets re-released as 16:9

Wasn't it also sorely lacking any extras?

Really wanted to get this until I saw that it was foolscreen, if that is the best they can do, I'll keep my VHS.

Besides, we can always pick up Love Don't Cost a Thing, not.

This movie has been currently running in a really badly edited version on ABC Family channel for the last couple of month. I expect that the film will be re-released soon and hopefully with some extras and in widescreen.

It wasn't released on DVD in its proper widescreen format, so I haven't given it much thought at all, really.

If it gets a widescreen release, I'm not only think about it more, I'll actually buy it.

I've been wondering about this since Patrick Dempsey has been getting so much press from Grey's Anatomy. Something in the back of my mind said they may rerelease this movie. I'm a little surprised that the previous release was so shabby. A lot of people I know list this movie as one of their favorites from the 80's. Given the genre, it was surprisingly well done. Here's hoping it gets a decent release.

One of those fun little movies I have in my collection but usually only watch it when I see it playing on a cable station. There are several of these and they all need either an OAR rerelease or their first release, period.....Doc Hollywood and Run both come to mind here. To be honest, since I never saw it at the theater and it's been played to death ON cable over the decades I don't mind so much that it's fullscreen only- thats the only way I've ever seen it to date and as I said, I never actually make it a point to watch it on DVD anyway. If they bring it out in OAR at a good MSRP I'd buy it again. As for 'extras', well...why? It's a little teen comedy with Dempsey at a time they were trying to build him up along the Brat Pack lines. Just the movie with good PQ at a low price point is enough for me, thanks. Has anyone checked to see if it's in any other region in OAR format?

It'd be really nice if they'd release "Some Girls" as well.

I didn't buy it because it's fullscreen, and will not buy any movie that isn't in its OAR, period.

Love the movie....I hated the fact it was released in fullscreen but had to have it!!! Hoping a 16:9 version will be released in the future.

Just One Of The Guys is also an 80's movie I'd love to get, but it too is fullscreen, and way over-priced.

these films like CANT BUY ME LOVE and JUST ONE OF THE GUYS was matted for theatrical presentation, so you are not losing half the image when viewed fullscreen..

I bought it the day it came out. As I recall, it was dirt cheap and I could finally chuck my old VHS copy. Disney put no effort into the release. I don't think there's even a trailer. Still, I'm glad I snagged it because I seriously think it's unlikely this will see an upgrade anytime soon.

I think they're aware of that. Exaggeration is the most frequently used tool of sarcasm.

I miss the peewee herman public service announcement that was at the beginning of the VHS copy...'this is crack...rock cocaine...it isn't glamorous, cool, or kid stuff'...i'll never forget those words

correct me if i'm wrong, but even though these films are matted for theatrical presentation , they are still shot with the intentions of having the top and bottom of the picture cut off when shown in the theater. Therefore, fullframe is still not the proper aspect ratio.

yes, matted is it's OAR. I was just pointing out someone thinking full frame on these you are losing half the image. You are gaining more image, but it is not the films OAR.
