It has to be post dated by the 31st so its worth the risk of just photocopying the bar code on the box and sending that off. Dont send them the receipt, just make up a date that you bought it, they wont check.

The email they sent me when i asked them what to do just asked for a copy of the box's barcode (not the receipt) so you should be fine.

What you got to lose apart from the the cost of a stamp? :)

Well, got mine today. Arrived in a bubble package and is in mint condition. Don't know if it was stated before, but It appears as though there is no way to tell the difference between the old and new whatsoever. In the end, it works out good for all of us who got S8 when it came out. We now have both versions of the threads episode. :) Had to do a bump because today is the last day to have your submission postmarked. Hmmmm, does that make the original realease of Threads (short) rare? It most certainly is OOP. My guess is it was never supposed to be in print at all. Hmmmmmm

Dai 02-01-06 12:47 PM

Well, I finally got mine in the post yesterday. Haven't had a chance to watch the extended version yet.

BTW, it appears as if they've extended the deadline. On checkmyrebate.com it now says:

Valid Purchase Dates
10/4/2005 through 3/31/2006
Submissions must be postmarked by
4/30/2006

So, you've got a couple more months to send them in!

biomekanik 04-24-06 01:30 PM

Just a reminder for those who might have forgotten (like me), that this is the final week to send in for the replacement disc.

Cemetery Man 04-25-06 01:26 PM

Got mine a month or so ago. Thanks for the heads up, without this thread I wouldn't have known.

So do the season 8 sets out now have the corrected, longer version? If so, is there a way to tell which box has the editied version and which box has the unedited version? A different UPC maybe?

SmileyJaws 04-25-06 07:24 PM

I'm almost certain that the corrected sets now bear a round colored sticker on the shrink stating it's the "COMPLETE" season. I noticed that the stock Best Buy had in my area during their B1G1F sale did not have the stickers, but most of the time I see the set these days, it's got the sticker.

Eric D. 04-25-06 07:37 PM

Cool. I'll keep an eye out for that then.

forumsmy 04-25-06 09:21 PM

Earlier I just went and bought the set and then sent away for the disk - just to be safe --- And I did get it back, so I happy now.

Worked for me; my stickered set was indeed complete. I've heard similar reports from many others. And I've actually sold a few sets online and had absolutely no complaints (but I refused to sell the sets w/o stickers, even though the markup during the BBUY sale was considerable(:

What should I do?

I just got season 8 last week from Columbia House and it had the edited 43-minute Threads. I not sure but I think it had a sticker on the front. With the replacement program over what should I do?

Dazed 05-21-06 01:52 AM

i'd email sony/mgm and tell them you just bought it and its still the old version.

Oh and im curious what people thought of the longer version ? I just got around to seeing it and thought it was a great improvement. I never thought they would cut so much out, including lots of vfx shots. Looks like a lot of the vfx budget ended up on the cutting room floor.

The longer version of Threads is what originally aired on SciFi. The only reason there is an EDITED version is for syndication and reruns. They were suppose to include the original UNedited version on the DVD, but somebody screwed up.

I have emailed mgm 3 times now and still no reply. What should I do now?

Star Wars Guy 09-25-06 03:13 PM

I figure this is probably moot since most have posted that the new sets have the longer, unedited version of 'Threads', but can anyone confirm that the new slim case versions all contain the longer version of 'Threads'? According to a reviewer on Amazon.com, his set has the longer version.

I just started collecting this series when the new slim case sets came out and it's been great so far.

bunkaroo 12-12-07 03:34 PM

Well I have bad news to report on this set for anyone who has purchased it recently.

I just got the Season 8 slimpak from Frys.com during their 13.99 sale.

Well, this set has the edited version of Threads.

Here's the bad part - this set has a Fox logo on it rather than a Sony logo, which implies this set was made AFTER MGM's distribution moved from Sony to Fox.

So it would appear that while Sony eventually made the corrected disc available at retail, Fox went with the original disc master for disc 5 of Season 8. Very disappointing as I'm sure no exchange will be offered now.

The UPC in my Fox/MGM version is 027616152565.

Jedi Master 33 01-10-08 07:36 PM

Yeah Target has the one with the edited version too. It sucks.

Stupid question though, when did Fox take over MGM's distribution?

MEJHarrison 01-11-08 05:17 PM

I got my edited version from Target as well. I wish I could find a legal way of getting the proper version. :(
