I just got mine ready to be put in the mail tomorrow. All I am sending is the rebate form, proof of purchase and a copy of my receipt from best buy. I understood the instructions to mean that sending in the dvd was not necessary. Besides I didn't want to send the disc in anyways because that disc is the one I am watching right now!

In related stargate news...a problem with the Stargate: Atlantis set.

Here be the linky: http://www.gateworld.net/news/2005/1...atlantis.shtml

Take care all!!

Does this mean that sets shipped after January will have the corrected disc?

So, will just the proof of purchase suffice? I'd like to keep the original
disc if possible. It also seems like they're making us jump through hoops
ala the rebate type requirements in order to get a simple replacement
disc.

And as for the form, is it supposed to come up as just an address label
looking box with a bunch of instructions beneath it and a signiture line
at the very bottom? Sorry if that was a stupid question, I'm not too
skilled in the art of rebates/replacement discs

The post on TVSHOWSONDVD.com says you send the disc back, but doesn't go into detail.

However, Gateworld.net says it's either the case+dvd or the POP. However, by sending in the case (with DVD insert) and the DVD, aren't you already sending in the POP?

So maybe you guys are right. I simply refuse to cut up the DVD insert or send it to them knowing that I might not get a new DVD insert or be stuck with a cut up one.

I want the uncut threads too, but this is stupid!

They should just have an email address you write to to get the disc. If they wan't POP, then let us send a photocopy via email or regular mail.

What if the replacement disc only has the uncut threads episode on it and nothing else? The Stills gallery for season 5 they sent only had that on the disc when it arrived. Who knows if they will do the same thing. Then you'll end up missing episodes!

This is totally screwed up! Plus the huge blunder to Canadians w/ Atlantis!

Good news for fellow Canadians.

I emailed the Sony address listed above and this is the response I got in regards to the S8D5 replacement:

Dear Valued Consumer:

Thank you for your e-mail. We appreciate your interest in Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) products.

We are in the process of fixing the Rebate website to include Canadian consumers. Please check back frequently throughout the day for this fix.

Thank you for your patience as we correct this problem.

Regards,

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
Consumer Relations

Looks like they've revised the site to fix the January 2005 (should be 2006) error and they changed slightly the instructions to read:

SEND: (1) THIS COMPLETED CERTIFICATE.
(2) THE ENTIRE JEWEL CASE AND DVD (OR)
(3) THE ORIGINAL PROOF OF PURCHASE FROM YOUR PACKAGING.

Now it just says OR instead of AND OR, so I'm going with the idea that we can just send the proof of purchase.

I haven't bought S8 yet. Still watching S5.

Any idea if they're planning on fixing this with future pressings??

If not, then i'll buy S8 now and send it in before the offer expires

I photocopied the POP and UPC and included a copy of my original receipt and mailed it in today. I'm not about to cut up my packaging or send them my disc + jewel case (??? Keepcase, d'oh).

I dunno if SONY will REpress future sets or are currently doing so as we speak, but I'd like to have both versions, if possible.

...but considering they are offering the option of mailing in the original disc, I guess they are pressing an entirely new disc with all the other episodes, rather than just making a new disc with ONLY the uncut Threads episode. So maybe this new disc will be included in NEWer/Upcoming pressings of this set???

Wish they would just do what MGM did with season 5's missing stills gallery. Email them, and get a DVD in the mail, that's all. Oh well...

Here's to hoping they dont' have a problem w/ a photocopy of my stuff.

I read in another forum that some people have received the longer Threads version (60+ minutes) in their sets. This suggests that the shorter version disc is no longer being produced and that all new sets being pressed will have the longer version. That is probably why the exchange program has limited dates.

Whether, if you ordered it now, you would get the longer version or shorter probably depends on the turnover at the retailer you choose. Might be best to buy it now, and if it is the short 43 minute version, to send in the POP and get the longer version disc.

However, so far as I am aware, nobody has received the new disc from the exchange program yet (or even an acknowledgment that the rebate site has received the exchange request). So it isn't clear how well this is going to work. But it has been less than three weeks since the exchange program was set up.

Yep, the sets with the longer version are out there. I ordered my set during DDD's 20% off sale. I just checked Threads and I've got the longer version. The track is about 65:37 long

DAMMIT!

I was going to order from DDD, but decided to go with Digitaleyes.com because with coupon all 8 seaon's were like $5 cheaper. Turns out they said all the season's were in stock, but then said 1-7 are backorderd. S8 was in stock and I got it today and it's the EDITED verison!

Mine's the shorter version, too. Bummer. I guess I'll have to get everything together to ship it out this weekend.

I emailed them this question and much to my amazement they actually responded. They said it takes 4-6 weeks before they even acknowledge the receipt of the materials.

Until then we just sit and spin? 4-6 weeks to acknowledge the receipt of the stuff? What the hell else are they doing. It's not like they're doing us a favor when they are the ones that screwed up in the first place.

I highly doubt that they have one whole department that looks after things like this.

It's probably 1 guy sitting in small room doing it. They already have our money, so what's their rush??

Yup, I got mine from the DDD sale as well. Opened it to see if there were any broken discs, but had played the ep. If I hadn't of randomly read additional post above I probably would have sent mine away for no reason.

Popped it and boom, 65 min version! =)

Can anyone that has purchased the set and received the uncut Threads episode disc in it tell me what is the UPC code on the set? I am having some problems with my set and I'm thinking of making the swap at Wal-Mart for hopefully the newer version. I purchased this at Sam's when it first dropped so I doubt they'll take it back.
