There's no way. In my house, we're lucky if we can get through half a movie in an evening, let alone more than 3!

Alright, cool. I'm all up for this, but I'm gonna be taking a blow next weekend when I make my trip out to Vegas. There goes my shot at being the winner, but I'll do my best to put up a fight.

I'll probably watch 4, but I might buy 100.

Edit: I meant 4 movies total this month. I'm not a horror fan and don't own any, unless you count The Ring.

so do movies on television count, are there any channels on basic cable that show uncut movies that are allowed in this challenge?

Monster movies?

If you're counting TCM MonsterVision films that are shown, can we count movies like Valley of Gwangi, Godzilla flicks or something like It Came from Beneath the Sea?

Is The Thing from Another World (original) scifi or horror? I think it tends to be both.

I'd be up for trying to do 31 in 31 days. Wife may hate me by the end though . . .

good question - anyone? do mutant bears count (i.e, 'Prophecy'). Is Jaws technically a horror movie or an action thriller?

can we agree that a feature length film has to be 40min+ (as the Academy of Motion Pictures mandates this as well).

I think a lot of films can be classified in multiple genres. To me, Jaws is a horror film - and I brought up the monster films because if you're going to count what TCM shows in Oct, they tend to show a handful of Godzilla films.

I'll give it a try. I've got some vacation time in October and many horror films in my collection I need to get caught up on including that latest Hammer series.

I'm gonna include some titles that can be in both horror and sci-fi, with John Carpenter's The Thing being one of them. I would put Jaws in horror as well.

Just so i understand it doesn't have to be horror films does it. I know i own at least 75 horror films. I'm guessing i can get 50-66 of the 100 being horror, the rest being a mixture of genres.

There's not even 100 horror films in existence that I'd want to watch. I doubt there's even 50. Probably closer to 25 and that's counting Stephen King movies.

You're absolutely right. Forget what I said before.

They're part of the horror genre, IMHO.

Sounds fair to me if it does with everyone else.

Sure, they all lean towards the horror genre. It doesn't have to be straight up horror, that's why I used the term "horror-related" to include sci-fi horror, creature features, horror comedies, etc.

I'll be watching both "The American Nightmare" and "Masters of Horror" which are documentaries about horror films.

This could be the basis for a spinoff thread in the Adult forum.

No way I'd make 100, too many other things to do just in daily life. With football and hockey starting up there's no way I could do it, but I could watch a good portion of them for Halloween's sake and don't forget AMC's horror movies that they do every year, which is alot of fun. I even pick up a few DVD titles from them that I haven't seen yet that are shown on the AMC marathon which I love.
