Any Chance Of A "Somewhere In Time" Re-release?
Just curious if anyone has heard anything rumors or otherwise on this. Frankly the existing "special edition" looks horrible. I have no gripe about the extras, but this is an earlier special edition and the extras seem to be all they bothered working with when putting this double dip out. The picture is soft and grainy- actually I think it looks like crap on a decent video setup- and the sound is just okay. This is one of those guilty pleasure type movies for me and I'd sure like to own a copy that's better than what Region 1 offers us. Also, if anyone knows of a better looking copy from a different region I'd love to have the input. Thanks in advance!

It definitely needs a re-release. Pretty sad that they released the "special edition" with a non-anamorphic transfer at a time when anamorphic tranfers had pretty much become the norm.
The picture quality is probably one of the worst releases out there for a major studio special edition release. It's one of the only movies I still have that is non-anamorphic but I will keep it until they release a new one. I never fail to shed tears when watching this movie.

I've almost picked up the current version several times, but since it is a crap non-anamorphic version I just can't do it.
If Universal puts out a new Anamorphic version I'll buy it in a heartbeat!

This is my all-time favorite movie. Don't know if it will ever get re-released on DVD, but I'm guessing there's a good chance it will go anamorphic for it's HD release whenever those players finally arrive.
