I'm about to venture into the second episode right now, wish me luck.

Update: 2nd episode played fine! Oh, and I got mine from BestBuy.com

I have a different problem. Disc 3 and 4 are the same. The text printed on the disc is different but the episodes are the same ones. Bought in Raleigh, NC going back today.

Yeah I have the same problem on this exact episode, but I continued watching the whole season, everything else was fine.

Saw this as a Blind watch [borrowed from my brother]. Liked it, didn't know jack about it... so was this show cancelled or was it meant to be only 23 episodes. I liked the ending (last episode), if it was an ending .

Sigh, I just got a glitch. Disc 5. Episode 18-Pearly. I hope like hell they let me exchange just the last disc.

That's the real menu. The image of Babylon 5 is on every disc.

Crap! I tried to watch Episode 2 last night and it pixelated and froze on me too. My disc 1 has the same ring of dots too. I'm going to Best Buy today to try to get a good one.

It was supposed to be the season cliffhanger... unfortunately they never came back for a following season. Overall an enjoyable show but watching it again all the plotholes and unanswered questions came up again. At this point I'm not sure I'm going to repurchase it...

yeah I kinda was split on it. It looked like a great cliffhanger, but saw that it was only 10 episodes [after the first 13 episoides before the Title change], so I thought it was cancelled [I figuired it shoulda been at least 13 for a second season/cliffhanger].

Well, I took my set back to Best Buy yesterday and explained the problem to the clerk. I opened another set and it had the same ring of dots on disc 1. So, they let me try a third set and all the discs look pristine. So, I got home and was able to watch the second episode without pixelation or lockups last night. Hopefully, I've got a good set now. It'll probably take me a little while to get through the entire set, though.

Good, maybe there is hope for me. The last two disc fives have glitched in the first two episodes in the same spots. When I looked closer, the second copy of disc 5 had the same strange dots on it as the first. Today, I'll try for a third copy and hopefully get a clean one that works.

Took it back. Made me get a whole new box. The lady said it was senseless to give me just one dvd out of the entire box. I guess it isn't senseless for me to have to throw away four discs I know work. =/

Guess I'll watch the trouble episodes first this weekend.

That really sucks. Did you tell her you knew the first 4 discs worked and you didn't want to have to re-watch them?

Oh yeah. But she responded with saying that she couldn't do that. Not true as the guy yesterday swapped just the one disc. But at least she gave up on the senseless.

Well, I made it through the whole set and only experienced one very brief playback hiccup during episode "Sugar Dirt", which didn't recur when I backtracked and played the scene again. I guess I got lucky.

There are two or three real stinker episodes ("R&R", geesh), but I can't say there were any major plot holes, other than the entire squad of Marines making a completely dumbass decision in the second to last episode.

Just an update after my story back in post #1. I've received a new copy from Amazon that doesn't have the dots and played the 1st disc fine. I did notice that the inner ring color of the 1st disc did not match disc 2, whereas disc 3 matches disc 4, so there may have been discs replaced before the regular non-best buy release. Babylon 5 is still on the menus though.

Bought in Charleston, SC

Disc 1, side A; plenty of small spots in blotches all around the disc.

Seems to be a serious manufacturing defect. All other discs look fine.

Bought at a Best Buy.
