Do you have any eBay DVD "shocker" stories?

By that, I mean experiences on eBay where you were shocked about the end result of an auction for a DVD. Maybe you put something up for sale that you didn't think was rare, but it ended up going for a lot because it actually was. Maybe something you sold went for an insane amount. Or heck, maybe you got a DVD for an unreal price.

Personally, I have a few:

-Back when the SOTL Criterion DVD was going for a lot more than it is now, I picked one of those up for well under $20 because the seller had the picture of the normal special edition listed, and deep in the middle of the description they finally mentioned it was the CC version.

-I recently picked up the Rashomon Criterion DVD for right at $10. That's not amazing, but it was cool to me.

-I had a Beauty and the Beast 2-disc up on eBay a month or two ago, and it looked like two people got into a bidding war, and the final price ended up being almost $100 (I think it was $96.xx).

Back when Duel was first released (and then recalled) I was able to get an extra copy when I ordered from Amazon. I placed the extra copy on E-Bay. The first five days there was hardly any bids and the price was about $20.00 (I bought it for $15). Then on the last day I woke up to found the price went up to $95.00. The final winning bid was $118.00!!!! $100 profit was not a bad deal at all.

I got Brazil Criterion Collection for $10 once used through ebay. That's probably my best deal ever.

I had two bidders get in a war for a Criterion Robocop I was selling(sealed) got $120.
Got $150 for This Island Earth(opened) around three years ago.
Long before the MGM version of Night Stalker/Strangler was announced I listed a Anchor Bay version for $50 buy it now. Sold in two minutes.
Listed both Funeral in Berlin and Ipcress File about a year ago and only managed to get about $25 a piece.
I've got a sealed Image And Now the Screaming Starts, thinking of listing it.
I'm suprised what peoiple pay for TV on VHS. I sold all mt tv show tapes and made a fortune. Lost in Space complete CH set $1000!. Kolchak set $350. Raked in several hundred on Untouchables, Night Gallery, Mission Impossibe and Man From UNCLE also.

I picked up Silence of The Lambs Ultimate Edition (R2 Japan) sealed for $11.95, and it was shipped overnight. That's the best deal I've ever had.

I read an article here on DVD Talk the day Ed Wood was released mentioning it was being recalled. I checked eBay and they were selling between $60 and $100 each. I called a few local stores and found that Planet Music had six copies in-stock. I went there immediately and bought all six copies for $30 each, $180 total. I went home and immediately listed them on eBay for $80 buy it now, and sold all six ($480 total) in less than an hour. I made $300 profit for about an hour of my time.

I picked up the 3 dvd set of ABC News' "History of the 80s" for $15 total when it was still retailing for $80 in stores. Unopened, too. Very nice.

I just sold my little brother's Pokemon DVDs. He said he wanted nothing to do with them anymore. He didn't want any of the money, just told me to sell them. 15 Discs in all,but the ones that can be found for $9.99-$3.99(Used Cheaper other places) The set sold for.........
228.97
Can you believe this? I thought I might at the most get $80 and had a Buy it now for $85,someone came in and bid on it instead, and when the auction ended? 228.97 was the price. Can you believe this shit? Well,I felt guilty so I gave my little bro,$180.00 of it,Paid the shipping and kept the rest. This happened 2 days ago......
WOW

There are a few other WOW storys but that was the most recent, and to me the most shocking.

Back when the Dead Zone Season 1 set came out, I sent away for the free unaired pilot DVD that you could only get by redeeming the coupon inside the box for a limited time. So, several weeks later, my copy of the unaired pilot DVD arrived. And then a few days later, *another* copy arrived. I hadn't sent away for two, so I guessed they just messed up and sent me a second one by accident. I held onto it figuring it would be a great trade item down the road.

Flash forward to January of this year, when I was suddenly unemployed and desperate for some extra cash and needed to sell off some of my stuff. I figured what the heck, I'd throw the unaired DZ pilot on eBay and see what it does. As near as I could tell, this wasn't exactly an frequently-auctioned item, so I didn't know what I could get for it, so I just started it at $1.00. Within 2 days, it had climbed to over $50. By the end of the auction, that little DVD in a white paper sleeve that I paid nothing for got me $122.50 from a woman in California.

I figured it might be worth something to some collectors who missed out on the mail-in offer, but I had no idea I'd ever get that much for it!

I sold my OOP Limited Issue Little Mermaid on ebay for 72 dollars. This was before all the asian bootlegs flooded the market.

Well, I can't believe that some eBayer who obviously hasn't heard about the upcoming release just bought my (1951) WAR OF THE WORLDS for $59.00.

I recently was bidding on a Nightmare Before Christmas set that sold for $105... never saw it before.. The auction claimed it was a US release, but after probing the seller, I found out it was an Asian set from 2001. I've still never seen it before though.. Here was the auction..

I also recently was browsing eBay and noticed that copies of the TV series JEM are trading for $100+ a pop, which is amazing considering I got them on the DDDVD 20% sale for my Fiance for around $25.

Unfortunately, deals have been few and far between for me on eBay.

About 4 years ago I picked up a VHS copy of Pumping Iron with Arnold Schwarzenegger from a Blockbuster bin for .99 cents. Sold for $90.00 on eBay! Recently bought the DVD from a grocery store for $5.00 new.

That's it?! They've been going for the mid-$800s on eBay:

I sold my original Fritz Lang's M for more than I bought the new one for. I'll probably do the same thing with Wages of Fear next week.
