Stanley Kubrick Collection ? Is the 11 disc Chinese release legit?

Ebay Auction

Saw this while looking for a decent deal on the box set, The seller claims it to be an offical release. It also includes paths to glory and sparticus. Question is, Is this legit? and if so, What is the quality like compared to the U.S. release?

I'm gonna go with bootleg on that, since there werent' big waves here bitching about us not getting the same thing.

Also, the seller claims the DVDs are All Region, which is usually a giant tip off.

If it's not a chinese movie (hong kong / china / taiwan), then it's usually a good assumption that it's a bootleg.

Years ago, I bought a R3 Taiwan release of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, just because I wasn't willing to wait for the R1 release. $USD30 shipped for brand new in shrinkwrap was a great deal.

He says that all DVDs are DVD-5. Even if the set was a legitimate release, how good would you expect the films to look on single-layer discs? Barry Lyndon and Spar(ir)tacus are over three hours long.

yes, any box set that includes 11 of the directors most popular DVD's ever for only $14.99 has got to be legit!!

Even if they weren't bootlegs, I'd still suggest holding off, as in about a year or so, WB's going to be releasing nice double-dics SEs of all their Kubrick movies - the same way they've been doing great releases of all their classic films the last few years.

I don't trust anything: books, dvd's, games, shoes, from China, Hong Kong, etc. That could just be me though.

Bootleg - indisputably.
You forgot:

Chinese subtitles - check
Too good to be true price - check
Bad cover art - check
Being sold on eBay - check
Previous negative feedback comments specifically citing bootlegging - check

In fact, the only two dead-giveaways missing here are DTS tracks for all the films and a notation that there are "no chapter inserts included".

Well to be fair, even a legitimate DVD of an English language film released in China would have Chinese subs. All the other things you listed are good signs of a boot though.

If your question about the legitimacy of a DVD includes the word "Chinese", then the answer is always "NO"

After all of these years, I still can't believe people need to ask questions like this.

It amazes me that people ask this sort of question when they can read through the person's feedback and see that he's a bootlegger. I especially love the complaints of getting "random" cd's or DVD's, like the person that bought a Keith Urban 2-disc set, and one of the discs turned out to be a Bryan Adams CD.

The words Chinese and legit do not go together very often.
