Wow, if the hack job listed above is true, I'd be really pissed if this was a movie I wanted to own. Luckily, that is not the case. I thought we were past the days of P&S only releases.

I might check this out when it hits the $5.50 bin at Wal-Mart.

I don't know what they were thinking when they put this out- the disc includes 'deleted scenes', yet the only version of the actual movie you get is cut! It says it's got a commentary too, do they point out what parts were changed???

Is the "Black Bars" scene in the deleted scenes list as well...seeing as if they don't matter?

I've never seen such venom released against a movie adaptation of a beloved TV show for crass commercialization just to turn over a few bucks for the movie studio, and in this case I Love It!

Our Paramount rep said they didn't have enough family friendly releases in the lineup so they decided to re-edit to a PG. Only a couple of lines were changed from the theatrical, and they are both in the trailer to the movie! You don't have to watch it to realize this is a horrible film and someone already said it says a lot about the target audience for this film to release a PG "full"screen only version.

According to Toben's aritcle, Paramount "worked very closely with the filmmakers in order to create the new cut". So basically, they're admitting that the movie was assembled by a corporate commitee?

Whatever. This movie was a horrible horrible idea. And it's getting the treatment for home video it deserves, nothing very good. I don't understand how any director in their right mind now-a-days can take a look at a remake, and say 'boy wouldn't it be great if we put a COMPLETELY different spin on this?'... such as this crap-fest, Fat Albert, and Bewitched. It's a shame because I'm a huge fan of old shows. It seems the remakes of the classics are being destroyed by some director who thinks that in order to make it more fun, it needs to be 'different'. One of my favorite shows of all time is 'Get Smart' and all I can hope and pray is that they don't make that movie be some kind of twist that's unforgivable. I'm hoping Steve Carell wouldn't lend his name to such garbage being that he's had one hit already, was a fav on The Daily Show, and has potential to continue to be a great comedy actor in the future. Is it that the people behind these 'remakes' think sticking with the original formula may be a little too hard to pull off since there's loads of criticising fans out there? Or do they genuinely think that these 'new' ideas are good? Either way, this movie was a complete failure at the box office and perhaps the 'corporate commitee' is trying to dumb down the movie a little bit so it can be unquestionably suitable for all ages, hoping to make this movie sell a tad more on home video since it can be family friendly. Who know their reasons for doing it. All I know is, this movie bombed, and there's really nothing much else they can do since they're desperate.
