Further Details
DreamWorks has today released some early details on a single-disc and double-disc limited edition of War of the Worlds which stars Tom Cruise. This new Steven Spielberg directed movie, will be available to own from the 22nd November this year. The single-disc will retail at around $29.99 - the retail price for the two-disc edition is currently unavailable. Both releases will feature a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, along with both English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround tracks. The only extra on the single-disc release will be a Designing the Enemy: Tripods and Aliens featurette. The two-disc edition will include that, along with an introduction by Spielberg, a four-part production diary documentary, four behind-the-scenes featurettes (The HG Wells Legacy, Characters: The Family Unit of War of the Worlds, Pre-Visualization and Scoring War of the Worlds), some closing words by Steven Spielberg, design and production photo galleries, and the film's theatrical trailer. The new Top Gun had a sweet 6.1 DTS track.

All I have for that particular day is Aeon Flux and War of the Worlds, but between October and November, I have a potential total of 13 DVDs waiting for me. At current prices offered at Best Buy--most of which should drop by each disc's release day--I'm looking at hundreds of dollars. Don't see a smilie for shuddering. :)

That echoes the very fear I had when I read the sign; if so, I will go ballistic.

On the press release, it said that the theatrical trailer would be included on the 2-disc version. But , on the 2nd disc menu screens Seen Here it doesnt show it? Is it still on there?

If the last two Spielberg releases (as well as any number of Dreamworks releases over the last 2 years or so) are an indication, the trailer will NOT be included, which sucks ass.

I have preordered the two disc at Amazon cant wait looks like a sweet release. I really wish they would include the trailers though.
