How many versions of Evil Dead, EDII, AOD do you own?

With all the versions floating around out there, and new ones coming every month, do you get one definitive version of each film and call it quits, or do you go after several of them for different reasons?

For myself, the Evil Dead Book of the Dead version was the first one I picked up. I may eventually get the Elite? version, since there is a controversy over WS/FS.

I managed to find the Evil Dead II tin, but I am going to get the Book of the Dead version for that one, as well! I have almost all of the Anchor Bay tins and LEs, so I wouldn't get rid of the old one, but I also have the first BotD, and would love to have both (or all three) on the shelf.

As far as Army of Darkness goes, I originally had the theatrical version, and wanted the bootleg edition, but I found a used copy of the LE 2-disc set, so I got rid of the plain version. Later, I also found a used copy of the LE Director's Cut. Unless they come out with a BotD version, or something with a lot more extras, better transfers, etc., I will probably call it quits on this one. I have heard the Japanese (or Hong Kong?) version has a better transfer or a slightly longer cut, but I forget exactly what. I may get that one some day.

I've owned Evil Dead, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness on VHS, then I got the AOD with the alternate ending on VHS.

Then I got the Book of the Dead, Evil Dead II and the AOD Bootleg Edition. I sold the bootleg when the Boomstick edition came out.

Have 2 versions of The Evil Dead -- the Elite and the BOTD Anchor Bay release.

1 Evil Dead II -- the limited edition tin. I'm going to get the BOTD release too.

2 Army of Darkness -- the individually released theatrical and director's cut DVDs. Out of curiosity, if you already had the 2-disc LE, why buy the director's cut by itself?

I owned ED II and AOD on VHS, then I bought the boomstick AOD on DVD. I picked up a copy of ED I pretty cheap. I nearly bought the limited tins and nearly bought the BOTD when it first came out, but never did because I kind of wanted to wait for a set of all three movies. Don't know if a nice one will ever come out or not.

I have the Elite Evil Dead, the Anchor Bay tin Evil Dead II and the r3 Army of Darkness. Those are the best dvds out there if you don't care about the packaging. I used to have the Anchor Bay Army of Darkness Director's cut, but I sold it and got the r3 instead. Much better quality.

I have the anchor bay Evil Dead 1 & 2 in the keepcases. I have the Army of Darkness Boomstick edition and the R3 Army of Darkness. I used to have the regular R1 theatrical version of AOD but I gave it to a friend when I got the Boomstick edition. And I used to have AOD on vhs back in the day!

Too many damn versions of these films to keep up with!!

Take care all!!

Anyone have a link to a page that shows all the version available and the differences/recommendations? I'm sure that I could google some answers, but I would guess that a few of you have firm opinions on this matter.

I loved the first one, really found it quite scary, but I hear the next 2 are more campy.

Check the dvd details on imdb.com. I have found those pages quite useful at times.
The second still a little bit of the horror, but overall it was too funny to be really scary. The third was more of an action/comedy than horror.

Evil Dead: Don't own (waiting for a good price for the BotD version)
Evil Dead II: The keepcase version of the tin release.
Army of Darkness: MGM R3 (with it's sweet, delicious 5.1 track and beautiful, succulent video quality)

Evil Dead: Elite
Evil Dead II: Tin, Anchor Bay single-disk.
Army of Darkness: LE, Bootleg, DC, Boomstick, R3.

I know that my AoD versions are redundant, but I've made it into a collecting hobby to see just how many versions of this one film I can get. I'll pick up the Laserdisc or VHS versions if I ever come across them.

I'm fairly certain that Army of Darkness will have a Book of The Dead eventually since the definitive version, Boomstick, is now out-of-print.
