What is the slipcover? I thought it was just that cardboard sleeve some of them come with nowadays, which is actually somewhat annoying to me.

non slipcover "(Widescreen, Deluxe Edition, 5 Limited Ed. Trading Cards)"

I've just grown accustomed to them, like them quite a bit actually. If anyone doesn't want theirs, willing to part with, I'd be happy to send you a couple of bucks or so for the trouble.

how'd you do that, cause the listing I see is that the 2-Disc is 19.99

Yeah my copy purchased at Best Buy on release day didn't have a slip cover either... didn't know they came with one until reading about it here that night. So today I went to a different Best Buy to buy my non slip covered edition of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory two disc set (didn't know about the slip cover until after buying it again) and I saw many two disc sets of the Wizard Of Oz sitting on the shelf with slip covers... damn it! Whats going on here? I remember when all copies of a new release came with a slip cover for a limited time and now it's hit or miss on release day!

The exclusive materials on the 2 disc set don't seem like enough incentive to buy that version over the single disc release. At least not when there's a $6-7 price difference between the two. The single disc was $14.99 at Target while the 2 disc was $22.99, I believe.

~45 minutes of featurettes and a few other special features really aren't worth the extra money, imo.

Anyone else having difficulty playing this... it won't play on my RCA|HT system, but it plays fine on my XBox. Suggestions? Is it worth bringing back for a new copy or is it a compatibility issue?

Did anyone get one with ...
1. A slip cover?
2. With the bonus book inside that is spoken of in the Circuit City ad?

When I got home, after going to Best Buy and purchasing the 2-disc set, I noticed that I was supposed to get a Wonka bar. Nobody at Best Buy mentioned this to me nor did they have any in store advertising stating this. Also, I found out about the book that is supposedly with the Circuit City edition. On top of that all of this slip cover talk really pisses me off.

This seems to be a very weak 2-disc set, I might pick up the single disc set but that's it. Batman Begins was two-disc set worth buying but not this IMO.

You know, I think this was a first for me. I actually CHOSE the single disc over the double. The extras just didn't do it for me... certainly not for the extra $9 or so.

Has anyone seen or purchased this set with the slip cover at Best Buy yet? If I find any at my local Best Buy I will return my already opened (damn it!) set back to get one with a slipcover.

Mine didn't have it and I didn't know about it until after I had made the purchase (nor did they ever offer to me have an advertisement for the free Wonka bar). I called them on the phone and asked them what I could do when they do get copies in with the slip cover. He told me to just make an exchange for a new copy with slip cover. This again goes back to the production companies and distribution being consistent with everyone getting the exact same product (except for the exclusive stuff). Did anyone get the advertised book from Circuit City? I called them and they said they had already given them out. what is it like if you have it?

it's not really hard to get one with the slipcover you know, just go and by a new one with it, place it over your current DVD and return the sealed one, since the slipcover is not sealed with the disc.

This may sound weird, but my DVD smells like chocolate. Did anyone else notice this? I think its just the special coupons thats next to the insert, they have those sprays on it or something.

I agree, it does smell like chocolate inside, tenzor. I noticed that too when I opened my 2-disc set. Very odd indeed. It was actually quite overpowering. Strange that there's no mention of it on the packaging, if it's intentional, or maybe like you said it's just coming from the special coupons. Still, there's something to say for coupons smelling like chocolate if that's what it's coming from.

This has to be one of the funniest tie-ins I have ever heard of. I wish DVDs did more with the senses. I got a scatch-and-sniff card from my power company to learn about the dangers of gas. The card smelled like a gas leak. Disgusting, but it would be nice to have smells in DVD cases. Well, not like the ones with the Evil Dead book, but still...

Noticed that as well. I'm pretty sure it's emanating from the coupon insert. Pretty cool

The only slipcovers I saw were on the deluxe editions at Target. I only got the 1 disc this time though.

Anybody remember the old Sierra computer game Leisure Suit Larry 7? It came with a scratch 'n sniff card with a variety of smells ranging from interesting to disgusting.

I wanted to save some money, so I went to Nebraska Furniture Mart (I live in Omaha and want to use my card there). They had it for 9.99 (I'm guessing the one disc, but you can't tell in their Sunday ad). Looking, looking, and my girl noticed a sign saying they weren't going to get it in til late Tuesday night!!! There big idiots there, but for 9.99 I guess I can wait til today.
