The good: At long last, Leave it to Beaver has been announced for a November 22nd release date. Available in a regular slimpack boxset, or a limited edition "Lunchbox" package which includes a "Cleaver family Photo Album". It is the 39 episode, first season.

The bad: It's going to be released on 3 double sided DVD's.

I wonder if they'll include the original pilot, with Harry Shearer as the Eddie Haskell character? They showed it on Nickelodeon a while back.

As long as they play properly, I don't have anything against double sided discs.

A lack of extras never bothers me. I'm just glad whenever a show I love gets released on DVD.

I prefer the new Leave It To Beaver, I remember enjoying that show when I was little, too bad I don't think they will release it on DVD but if they do, I wouldn't mind picking it up...

I like double sided discs for things like this. I only object to them when I have to get off my ass to flip it to finish a movie. Hell, even my LD player autoflips.

re: doublesided, I like artwork on my discs. I've never had a problem with playing them. They're just not as nice to look at.

I am not the biggest fan of "flippers" but when it really ticks me off is when it seems really unnecessary. For example, there are two Fox sets that I buy, MASH and Bob Newhart Show. MASH comes with eight episodes on one side, and Bob Newhart comes with eight episodes spread over two sides. I guess compression can be argued, but I just don't understand why they can't release the same three disc set for Bob Newhart and do it like MASH where there are all 8 episodes on one side of the DVD and artwork printed on the other side.

Double-sided has not bothered me at all.

I don't have a real issue with double sided discs, but I was a bit pissed at Columbo since they have done something different with every single season. Season 1 was a fold out cardboard case with single sided discs, season 2 they went with 4 single sided discs inside of two standard keepcases (with the insert tray to hold two discs) and with Season 3 they went again with two standard keepcases, but this time went with 2 double sided discs. I had an issue already with disc 1 side B freezing up midway in the Robert Culp episode.

If you are going to use 2 double sided discs at least have the decency to put them in a single standard size 2 disc keepcase to save my shelf space. With the way Universal did it 2 discs are taking up the same space as 4. I'm really gaining nothing by getting 2 double sided discs other than a much higher chance for a defective disc.

I've tried both and nothing beats some older Beaver. I guess it depends on what mood you are in.

I didn't know there was a newer one, I know there was a movie that was made in 97 that i liked when i was younger, but not a series.

I think it was called "The New Leave it to Beaver". It wasn't on one of the big three networks, maybe TBN or Disney?
