Napoleon Dynamite problem

I just bought Napoleon Dynamite the other day and my player wouldn't play the widescreen side of the disc (onscreen error: can not play this disc), so I then try it on my el-cheapo player in the bedroom and it started up and played just fine. I exchanged the disc yesterday, tried it again, and the same thing happened but this time if I opened and closed the tray a couple of times the player would finally read it... WTF! I did a search here and on Google but couldn't find anyone else complaining about this issue, so what do you guys think it might be? Is my player on it's last leg? (Sony DVP-S300, circa 1998), or should I exchange the disc once more?

Sounds like a player problem with DVD-18 discs. I haven't heard of any problems with ND. Do you have any other DVD-18 discs you could try?

It does sound like a player problem, but Napoleon Dynamite is a DVD-10 (dual-sided, single layer) so dual layers shouldn't be a problem.

Well I went ahead and bought a new player yesterday and all is well with the problem I mentioned above. I know what you guys are thinking... he bought a new player just so he can view Napoleon Dynamite in the correct aspect ratio? Well kind of, but I have been meaning to upgrade for awhile now so that I can view DTS encoded discs so everything worked out in the end... thanks for the replys guys.

Hell yeah. I personally think that's an excellent reason to buy a new player.
