Here are my repeat viewing habits:
1) Favorites several times per year
2) Seasonal movies once per year (Universal Horror on Halloween, Christmas themed movies in December, etc.)
3) Epics/classics once every few years

This is interesting, thanks guys!
For those of you who have movies that you watch four or more times a year, how does such frequent viewing change your experience of the film, or does it change your experience? I suppose I'm trying to figure out why you don't get sick of them, and why I do. This is not a judgement call at all by the way - I'm simply feeling curious.
For me, any movie I watch every eight months or more is considered to be in heavy rotation. If I see a movie too often I find that I lose the ability to lose myself in it. Weaknesses in plot or pacing tend to jump out at me more - things like that, which pull me out of it, I suppose. Most of the time I need a movie not to be too fresh in my mind in order to get the most enjoyment out of it.
Obviously, we all have different ways of experiencing our favorite films. I love hearing everyone's comments and perspectives - keep 'em coming!

It varies between titles. A few number of my DVD has been played over and over for more than ten times. On the other hand, from my around 270 titles, the movie I've seen more than once is just about half of it.
Furthermore, because I have always find difficulties on deciding what movie to watch, I keep a large number of my DVD unwatched. I watch them one by one when I have time and mood. At the moment I have just about less than 50 titles yet to be seen.

RECORD your "last viewed" dates in a file!

Even then I still like to look at my collection and see the movies even if I rarely watch them.
I tend to watch a movie twice when I first get it and then I shelve it for a few years. I have found time and time again that if you havent seen a movie in about 5 years or more no matter HOW MANY TIMES you have already seen it or liked it, it doesnt matter, watching it again after 5 yrs is like a NEW MOVIE. For this reason I log all my DVD viewing into a computer file and record the last viewed date. when they get old, I dig 'em out again and ENJOY.

Right now I am trying to get through as much of my backlog as possible while I am between jobs. In August so far, I have seen 19 movies so far, with 16 coming from my unwatched pile. That count includes repeat viewings of Sin City and Wedding Crashers. As for how often I watch my dvd's....whenever I want. That's the beauty of owning them!

Hmm... my most watched discs?:
1. Family Guy (I'm not sure which season, nor which disc, but this is easily in my player more than anything else)
2. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (this is one of those films that I can just watch over, and over, and over again and not really get sick of it at all)
3. Sin City (I've watched this more in four days of owning it than most discs since I've bought them)
4. American Psycho (what can I say? I just really love this film)
5. Pulp Fiction (I typically pop this in if I'm bored, and well, I'm bored quite often)

What can I say, I also enjoyed Troy, The Alamo, and Gods and Generals, and didn't think any of them were too long.

I tend to have multiple viewings on silly movies. I can always laugh at Liar Liar and the Vacation movies. I may choose one of these over a movie I haven't opened yet. I'm trying to watch all of my movies at least once, but like other people, I tend to look at it as a reference library. Unfortunately, I'll be out of luck if any of them are defective. What hasn't helped is the amount of TV shows that have come on dvd as well as tivo. I watch a lot more tv shows now since i can have so many available to me at one time. This has contributed to a shorter attention span and a preference for episodic. I love buying or renting a series on dvd and not having to wait a week to see the next one. Also, with tivo, I can save episodes and then watch several in a row, which is what happened with GSN running the amazing race this summer. Now I won't have to watch the dvds.

I think I average about 2 movies per week.

I norm watch about 2-3 movies a week. Norm only 1 of those, being from start to finish. The other 2, I norm watch about 30 minutes or so at a clip each night, before I go to bed. So total about 3 total movies in a week.
I think I have around 150 dvds, and of those, I watch all multiple times a year for the most part. Those that I don't, I just sell or give away, periodically. With each viewing I tend to find the same enjoyment, although, not getting as much attention from me as the first few views. I just watch alot of them, to burn time before I fall asleep, so a movie not new to me, is preferred, else I will need to pay attention to much
Most frequent dvds in rotation:
1. Great outdoors
2. Summer Rental
3. Overboard
4. Any one of my many music dvds
5. American Movie
6. Any one of my many horror dvds
Basically just hokey movies.

I like to watch the film and then revisit it shortly thereafter via its special features. I especially like watching the commentary of a favorite. I probably won't rewatch a film on my own for another year or so. If someone comes over and wants to watch something I've recently seen, I can watch it with them though. For example, a few years ago I watched Moulin Rouge three times in three days because each time I was showing the film to someone who had not seen it yet.

It really depends on my mood as to how often I watch DVD's. At the moment I'm going thru a phase where I feel the ened to watch one every day. I just watched 'Alexander', 'Sin City' and 'House of 1000 Corpses' the past 3 days.
If I'm meandering around the house taking care of things then maybe I'll put in a music dvd instead of a CD for a change.
And then if I'm just trying to kill a little time for whatever reason then I'll put in a comedy along the lines of 'An Evenign With Kevin Smith' or 'Blue Collar Comedy'.
Then there are times where I feel like watching the bonus features and will usually haul out a couple of DVD's that I haven't checked out and see what they have to offer. The most recent was 'Constantine - Directors Cut'.
I'm also a big X Files fan. I don';t own all of the seasons yet and have 4, 8 & 9 to get. But usually when I do get one of them then I can watch 3 or 4 episodes back to back and usually get it done in a week.

I watch a very small percentage of my DVDs on a fairly regular basis, about once or twice a year. Those are my absolute favourites, like the Star Wars trilogy, Family Guy, The Killer, Hard Boiled, and others. Then there are "anniversary" type DVDs that I tend to watch once a year at around the same time every year. These DVDs include Saving Private Ryan, and some Christmas-themed movies. Whenever they start talking about the anniversary of D-Day in the news, I just get the urge to watch Saving Private Ryan. The rest of my movies just sit there.

I have sold many of my DVDs in the past. DVDs that I've purchased as blind buys, and I watched, and didn't like at the beginning of my DVD collecting, when the format debut in the year of 1997. Currently, I have been more selective when purchasing DVDs for that particular reason.
Yes, I reduce the quanity my collection significantly, which was not a major problem for me, but in the least, I regain an average amount of my money back.
It's more better to have DVDs that I like, and going to view over many times, than to have DVDs that I DON'T like, and never going to watch again stored on my rack for a long duration of time, occupying space just to have a gigantic DVD collection.
I choose quality over quanity.

I watch the action sequences in Gladiator, The Transporter, Balboa-Creed I, Balboa-Drago, a few boxing matches I have on dvd, and Last of the Mohicans probably 20-30 times a year (at least for the past 3 years or so).
On new releases, I will watch it immediately after purchase. If I can see myself watching it again, I keep it or I immediately ebay it. I later revisit the movie 1-3 months later. I then decide if it stays in collection after the second viewing. I am pretty formulaic on my collection.

I watch the Family Guy & Mr. Show dvds all the time. Other than that, I watch Scenes From A Marriage every few months (although I don't recommend watching it very often---if more than once)
