You have to go into the "Audio Options" menu, pick your language track, and then it will go to a subtitles menu. Several of the discs from the earlier seasons are like this as well, but not all of them. I hate not being able to just hit a button to change the subtitle or audio track.

I dropped my Wookie.
|
It's "I broke my Wookie." LOL! I love that line along with "My cat's breath smells like catfood."
I really love the booklet in this season's box. It almost makes up for the lousy plastic head and the even worse clear plastic sleeve that goes over it. |
Actuslly, isn't it "I bent my Wookie"?
|
Yes, actually, I think it is and I really went back and forth before I chose the wrong line. The correct line, "I bent my Wookie" is, in fact, one of my favorite lines in the entire series. Two others are Charlton Heston as Ben Hur telling Mr. Burns, "You truly are the King of kings" and Homer asking God the meaning of life and God telling him he'll find out when he dies. Homer says, "I can't wait that long," and God responds, "You can't wait 20 minutes?" That had me rolling.
|
Wasn't the God one "You can't wait 6 months?"
|
"D-oh!" Dammit!!!
|
error. Sorry 'bout that.

Although an interesting thing, on each Episode Menu, I was able to click the number each character was holding in the photo, and it leads straight to the episode, nothing different. Don't understand why that is, since PLAY EPISODE is right under it. Unless I missed something.... |
possible problem with episode
I'm going from memory here, I believe it's episode 23 found on disc 4. "The Springfield Connection":
SCENE: Moleman is being walked from his cell a la dead man walking. Then there's a cut to another unrelated scene. During the beginning of this new scene, there appears to be a flicker that causes the entire screen to dim down twice. It seems like the kind of thing you'd experience if there was a power fluctuation in your home and your lights were about to go out. It doesn't seem appropriate here, though I guess it could be some sort of subtle carryover from Moleman being “executed.” I apologize in advance for not being able to describe this better. I really didn't think much of it at the time but am now wondering if the dimming of the lights was intentional or not. It didn't feel like it was meant to be part of the episode. I even listened to commentary around that scene and there wasn't any mention of it. Maybe someone can explain this, or at least verify that it's not happening to just me? Thanks! |

FINALLY got my set today in the mail from coconuts and while I do wish the other thread was still open.....I'm happy to have it.
I'm sending off my rebate and "other form" tomorrow but for now I'm going to sit back and watch some classic, quality Simpsons. |

But thank you! This post describes exactly my feelings about Mirkin. I, too, much preferred the Jean/Reiss comms of seasons 1 through 4. I've listened to each comm on those releases at least twice but have yet to listen to many of the s5 comms. They should exclude him from the "regular" comm sessions and pair him up with Julie Kavner so they can have their own all-out ass-kiss-o-rama. |
I dunno - Jean/Reiss comment on a couple episodes in this set and they have absolutely NOTHING to say, and are as dull as dirt. If not for Lovitz calling them gay all the time, the commentary for A Star Is Burns would be a total wash.
And listen to Mirkin on the clip-show, and see if you can still say he kisses a lot of ass... |
I'll give the clip-show comm a listen tonight, but even if Mirkin's a grumpy old man on that particular comm he's still an ass-kisser on the other ones. I can't stand his constant "I love how" this and that.
I do sort of agree with you on your comment about A Star is Burns, but I find Jean/Reiss much more likeable and their comms have more of a "friends coming over and watching the show with you" kind of feeling. |
Does anyone know why Matt Groening's name doesn't appear in the credits for "A Star is Burns"? He also doesn't sit in on the commentary for that episode. Any ideas why?
|
I read somewhere that it was because he didn't want any affiliation with what was essentially and ad for The Critic.
|
That's what it is. They rib him about it on one of the earlier season commentaries.
|
a kind of easter egg
nothing much , but like it was said before if you go to the episode menu, then go to another menu then back to the episode one, the production number becomes clickable and will automatically go into the episode, except for Treehouse of Horror V - where an eyeball peeks around, and Who Shot Mr. Burns? - where a couple gunshots get fired onto screen then resets. Thats all i can find now, but i will keep looking.

For those of you who ordered the replacement "case", but forget to check the case thread, you may want to see this:

Hmm, that's interesting. I was kind of hoping to use the replacement case for the original DVDs and inserts and just put the Homer head on top of my DVD rack. Now I'll have to figure out something different.
