MTM?

wondering if they're going to speed up the next 3 seasons to capitalize on the end of the series.

"Record? Lots of shows have gone eight seasons or more."

I guess I'm thinking of The Bob Newhart Show, I Love Lucy, Three's Company... Sad to say, but many fun shows never made it beyond a few seasons.

It would be nice. However, as someone else said, "My wallet cries me to sleep each night."

I know. I am just saying that when it was put in the same line up with either Friends or Frasier, it was going to benefit. I think one of the main reasons that it has record-low ratings now is more-so that it is no longer apart of the Friends driven Thursday night, and Joey certainally has zero ability to anchor the night.

Well...had W&G kept going on the streak it was on, i have a feeling it could have reached that Friends cult-status. It was pretty much a media darling at that point and loved by everyone *I* came into contact with. It was quite obvious when people stopped loving it and also when the cast weren't as interested in playing...at least for me.

W&G has less relatable characters than Friends did, I don't really think it would have ever reached Friends cult-status. Friends storylines pulled the user in, W&G did some of these, but not the same way that Friends did.

I personally do not know anyone who was extremely in love with the series. It is definitely more than just a filler show that you watch just because it is on (ie "Just Shoot Me" for example), but it never reached its full potential, ever, IMO.

Personally I never found it any funnier than other NBC attemps like "Caroline in the City". It and Caroline shared a more sophisticated bit of humor, but not Frasier-level. I think W&G was always stuck between wanting to be some type of mixture of Friends, Frasier, and Seinfeld with a dash of crazy. It was launched in a post-Caroline timeslot originally, IIRC. So at least it survived that killing Monday night line up.

Amusing. I just found this post at HTF. Wonder if duality is...umm...playing dual roles.

"I can't wait for Seasons 5, 6, 7 and 8 to hit DVD! I love this show. I feel as if I've grown to know each character and that they are moving forward together. Will's earthy yet always fun personality, Grace's total insanity with regard to her relationships and life in general, Jack's breathtaking superficiality, Karen's killer rack/attitude and Stan's near-invisibility have carried me along on this joyous ride. I almost forgot Rosario. She's like a mother to me. Immortalized on DVD - thank God!

BTW, a lot of people criticize the show for having some not-so-great episodes and losing ratings the past few years. Well, I can only say that even I LOVE LUCY suffered from bad scripts and poor acting the last few years it aired - and don't even mention the Lucy and Desi Comedy hour! "

Will and Grace (and certainly Friends as well) stole most of their jokes in the last 5+ years STRAIGHT from Seinfeld shows during their run on NBC. They just repackage them with a slight slant. Jerry Seinfeld laughs about this in interviews if people ask the right questions. He claims Friends and even Will and Grace wouldn't even have existed without Seinfeld. So just note that the jokes are often the same, and as always the original is better. Seinfeld is da bomb.

You may be right...but to be honest, i couldn't get through an episode of Seinfeld. Still can't. Just don't find it funny. thought Jerry was atrocious. I can't even get through his stand up. If he weren't the main character, I might have given it more of a chance. He and Fran Drescher should be nominated for most annoying voices in TV-land. I know I'm probably going to get trashed for this as I usually do but that's not what this thread is about. People can't understand WHY I wouldn't like Seinfeld. And maybe the the jokes are the same but Friends and ESPECIALLY Will and Grace put it in a package that I could not only relate to but one I found actually really funny.
