Land Of The Dead in October

According to Digitalbits, the Land Of The Dead DVD will be out on october 25th. Thats ironic because that was the original release date for the film. Land Of The Dead was flawed in many ways, but i really enjoyed the movie by its self, and as an entry into Romero "Dead" series. To bad people didn't come out in droves to see the flick during its short theater run. Here's to hoping it will do better on DVD, and more people will see it!

RyoHazuki 08-14-05 10:39 PM

Unrated?

Buford T Pusser 08-14-05 10:54 PM

BRING IT ON!

Gizmo 08-15-05 01:24 AM

Im positive we will get an 'Unrated' Version....maybe a 'Dead' boxset of some kind?

SuckaMC 08-15-05 01:37 AM

probably no boxset, as the rights to all three movies are spread hither and yon(always wanted to use that). I really didn't care for this movie, but I will probably end up getting it to round out the collection. I'm goofy like that.

I just hope Universal doesn't fuck up the DVD.

caligulathegod 08-15-05 04:27 AM

Now we know why they moved the theatrical date to summer.

Same here. I'm all over this when it comes out though.

Mr. Cinema 08-15-05 07:40 AM

Hopefully in the unrated cut, the Big Daddy character is completely edited out.

dadaluholla 08-15-05 07:58 AM

I passed on this in the theater but I will likely pick up the dvd, especially were they to do an unrated cut. I enjoy Zombies, but Romero's work has never done much for me.

Lastdaysofrain 08-15-05 08:06 AM

Really? Romero IS the zombie movie? What Zombie movies did you enjoy if not the Romero movies?

I'll pick this up, the "unrated" material Romero has said is much, maybe 6 minutes, most likely character stuff (which is fine by me)

This was definetely #4 ouf the 4 Romero Zombie movies, but it was a good flick.

I thoroughly enjoyed this in the theatres. Finally, a true zombie film. Not some infection film trying to maquerade as one (DAWN04). The best thing about DAWN04 is that it gave me little hope that a decent zombie film could be made these days, and then Romero comes in with LAND! The only thing that would've made it better is the removal of Dennis Hopper and John Leguizamo.

Anyways, I do hope that the DVD release is done right. But October is shaping up to be a real budget-buster... between LAND OF THE DEAD, HITCHCOCK boxset, and ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS boxset...oh boy. :)

I prefer Savini's 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead, Return of the Living Dead, or Dead/Alive all over Romero's original NOTLD or Day of the Dead. I would even take House of the Dead over Day of the Dead.

I would probably put the original Dawn in my top 5 list though....

Missed it in theaters, but looking forward to the DVD.

If all you see in his films is the gutchewing and the spurts of gore, then you have completely missed the point.

Good News.

There you go. That is a good summary of what I DON'T like about Romero's films. If that is all Land of the Dead has to offer then I will definitely have to rent it first before i chance a blind buy.

Definite rental at best

Hehe, same here. I have all 5 movies, so I need to get this for that reason alone. That, and I'm also curious about the new material in the unrated version.

zero 08-15-05 01:14 PM

Cool a semi-Halloween release :) I still need to pick up that Dawn of the Dead box set that came out.

critterdvd 08-15-05 02:19 PM

I really enjoyed this movie... I had low hopes, and I was surprised... Its not a great movie by any sense of the imagination, but for what it is, its not bad.

Oh no, not the Dawn 04 debate..I'll indulge in this a bit. I really liked Dawn 04, and thought that running zombies were a nice touch to up the ante. While I'll always like the slow walking zombies, I'm afraid that they don't hold the scares that they used to. When I saw Land, alot of the theater was laughing at the zombies... while I just shook my head. The tuba zombie, Big Daddy, these are not scary zombies, not when you can walk by them to get away.
Anyway, I hope the unrated cut will improve this film a bit.

dadaluholla 08-15-05 02:49 PM

There hasn't been any confirmation of an unrated cut yet has there?
