Missed it at the theaters so this is a must for me. I love zombie movies....both good and bad.

I'll be interested in hearing about an unrated version. I love the DEAD movies and was slightly disappointed in LotD. Maybe my expectations were too high... maybe some scenes reminded me of DofD (04).

I'm definitely going to pick this one up. I need to clear my zombie watching queue first though. I have Dawn of the Dead (original, European cut), Dawn of the Dead (original, extended cut), and Zombie 3, 4, and 5 (the Zombie Pack).

a masterpiece, best zombie film since Romero's Dawn (not a HUGE fan of Day). only Romero does zombies right (sure Fulci was entertaining as was ROTLD, but thats all it was, mindless fluff entertainment with nothing behind it).
i seen it 3 times so far and now its playing at the dollar movie so ill see it a few more. the DVD will be mine as well. i cant wait. |

Romero's Land of the Dead which stars the likes of Simon Baker, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper and Asia Argento. Both discs will be available to own from the 18th October this year, and should retail at around $29.99 a piece. The rated edition (runtime 1 hour 33 minutes) will be available in full frame only, whereas the unrated edition (1 hour 37 minutes) will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. Each will carry English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround tracks. Universal has yet to reveal the extra material, or the official artwork, for these titles I'm afraid, but we'll bring you further details very shortly. Stay tuned for that. I thought the movie was only average, but I have to say, this had the most aggressive sound mix of any movie I've seen in the theater this year. Bring on DTS

really ya think? I saw this in a Dolby Digital THX equipped theatre and I thought the 5.1 soundmix was kind of underwhelming. looking forward to seeing the unrated grue - woohoo! |

Honestly, my only problem with this movie was that it seemed too short. After a twenty year gap I expected more than a mere 90 minutes. What I saw was good, but it left me wanting a lot more than 4 extra minutes will fill.

I've seen this in the theaters and didn't think it was that bad as just some horror movie. But as a Romero Dead film, the one thing that disappointed me is that this movie didn't make you fear the world, ya know? The other movies made you actually feel the intensity of the situation of zombies taking over. You almost felt trapped with these people. In Land Of The Dead though, you don't have that vision portrayed as well, in my opinion. It just doesn't have that same element of fear as the other films did.

I'll prob have to pick this up, to keep my other dead movies company, but this was def the worst of the bunch to me.
I thought it was just average at best, but possibly a revisit of it, will make it me enjoy it more. Either way, will support Romero, and pick it up I'm sure. |
Well this is one of those movies that will definitely work much better as a DVD to be viewed at home, than it was to pay good money to see it in theaters. That's what I think at least anyways.
