Definitely going to purchase this. Looks like I'll be getting the single version. 44.98 (retail) is a bit much for a blind buy.

They should have released the movie on 12/06 period. I am not sure why they thought this would be a great summer flick. Still, great news. Hopefully, it will get a bigger audience on dvd.

The CE price is a bit steep, but I'm gonna have to get it! (or most likely ask for Christmas)

Universal seems to not be supporting DTS as strongly as they used to. The only 2 recent releases that I know of that has DTS is Seed of Chucky and the Jaws 2-disceroo.

Fox, on the other hand, seems to be including DTS on many of their newer releases. However, their double dipping habits suck.

I liked CINDERELLA MAN, but is it a movie I'll watch again? No. It simply doesn't have that re-watchability factor to it. One of those movies that is entertaining while you watch it (primarily to Crowe's acting, not anything else), but quickly forget about it after you've seen it.

Want to see it, didn't get to in theater, and will probably rent the DVD. It seems like the other Howard-Crowe collaboration "A Beautiful Mind" -- I own that but it doesn't really have a high re-watchability factor. In fact, I only watched it once.

I perhaps could have been tempted to just purchase this if they did the 2-disc SE at a reasonable price. Good grief, $45??!! That's a ridiculously high MSRP. I mean, isn't the $30 MSRP enough to support some SE content?

And when's the last time you paid MSRP

I suspect with all the heavy discounting, the gift set will be around $32 or so (30% off)... Sin City is 47% OFF at Amazon.

$44.98 (with a book included) - GOOD. That means Universal isn't washing their hands of it and saying "Screw it" to the fans of the best film of the year hands down. I know that's not saying much with all the OTHER stuff released so far, but looking ahead, I honestly don't see anything beating it. Jarhead? The New World? Definitely not a Spielberg fan, Munich will have to go a long way to impress me.

In terms of rewatchability, I saw the movie three times. Loved it every single time. I'll definitely see it again and again.

Sucks that the two disc comes with a book and is so expensive.

I'll probably just get the one disc version unless someone has a great deal on the set.

Best = most conventionally crowd-pleasing? If you're looking for good movies and coming up short, you ought to look well beyond overblown committee-written Hollywood fare.

You're lecturing me about crowd pleasers and defending Spielberg's latest pappy garbage? People get on Ron Howard a lot, but I guarantee if Spielberg made Cinderella Man it would've been even sappier than you obviously found it to be. Flapping American flags, probably some wholly unnecessary voiceover...trust me. The movie probably would've ended with Russell Crowe in old-man makeup jogging around James J. Braddock Park in North Bergen (where the real Braddock actually ran laps) and a fade-out on a giant American flag. Please. Go watch Mulholland Drive and faint over its totally incomprehensible glory. Some of us understand there's room for all KINDS of movies, from the obtuse to, yes, the crowd pleaser. No, best does NOT equal most crowd pleasing. It means the BEST, which is what Cinderella Man is thus far this year. Believe it or not, despite what all the snobby cool kids say, Hollywood DOES make good films sometimes. I feel that Cinderella Man is a sterling example of that. Sorry, but Colin Farrell in a historical epic? In the words of Chris Rock, "WAIT."

I saw Cinderella Man twice during it's theatrical run and loved every second of it both times. I'll definitely be picking up the 2-disc of this one. By far the best movie of the year for me.

Actually, "Crash" is the best movie so far this year.

Crash to me is a close second, actually. Don Cheadle's opening speech REALLY set my teeth on edge for some reason, lol. I forget what show it was, but it perfectly exemplified why saying and/or "explaining" the title in a movie is ALWAYS bad. I realize my pick for #1 is named after the guy's nickname after he took the nation by storm, but c'mon, heh.

I'll be picking this up as a single, but I wouldn't pay an MSRP $44.95 even if it was in HD format. Do these guys think that since we now spend more in gas to get to the store we'll pay more for the disc to make sure it was worth the trip?

I'll definitely be getting this, but I think I'll pass on the gift set. Although we don't know what that book will be like, I don't see how they can charge so much more for it when some recent releases have had books given away as bonuses at Wal-Mart (The Phantom of the Opera, Constantine, Million Dollar Baby, etc.). Hell, even Universal themselves included a decent booklet with the Jaws 30th Anniversary Edition, and that too didn't cost more because of it. I can understand if the soundtrack CD was included why it would cost so much more, although I don't go for those editions either.

I just hope that if there's a commentary (as I expect there to be as Howard is generally good about doing them), they don't withold it from the single-disc edition.

From DavisDVD, the extras of Cinderella Man:

"Universal Studios Home Entertainment has just announced Cinderella Man for release on December 6th. This great Russell Crowe film which, unfortunately, failed to connect with audiences arrives in separate 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen editions each with Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 tracks. Extras include an audio commentary with director Ron Howard, another commentary with writers Akiva Goldsman and Cliff Hollingsworth, deleted scenes, "The Fight Card: Casting Cinderella Man," "The Man, the Movie, the Legend: A Filmmaking Journey," "For the Record: A History in Boxing," "Ringside Seats" and "Jim Braddock: The Friends & Family Behind the Legend" featurettes and trailers. Retail will be $29.98.

A two-disc Collector's Edition also will be available and will include a bonus disc with additional deleted scenes, six other featurettes ("Pre-Fight Preparations," "Lights, Camera, Action: The Fight From Every Angle," "The Sound of the Bell," "Braddock vs. Baer Fight Footage," "Russell Crowe's Personal Journey: Becoming Jim Braddock" and "The Human Face of the Depression" and a photo montage. The set also includes a bonus collectible book. Retail on this will be $44.98."
