Will this be the fourth release of this movie on DVD from Columbia-TriStar?

I wish there was a Best Buy or Target in Puerto Rico because here the only store that carries the Superbit version is Suncoast and the want $26.99 for it.
I'm just talking out of my ass, so take this with a grain of rock salt: I think that they have only done one transfer, back in 1997, and the subsequent releases have been derived from that. It was in high-definition and downconverted for DVD.

I only have the Superbit deluxe version so I can't really compare the differences, but from the reviews I've read, it is my belief that they were all from the same source. Higher bitrates helped the Superbit look a bit (no pun intended) better, but for all practical purposes, it's the same transfer.

I've already double dipped on this one- I recently watched the original edition that I bought 5 years ago and that persuaded me to pick up the superbit. The original edition print doesn't look THAT bad, but I like the movie well enough to have wanted a bit better PQ as well as the DTS track. Too often of late they're rereleasing this or that movie and we wind up LOSING features rather than getting more of them for the money. Seems like several discs have been rereleased of late that take away the DTS track....the T2 Extreme Edition and Saving Private Ryan in the D-Day 60th Anniversary set both do this according to what I've read in the DVDtalk reviews. A great DD 5.1 track is perfectly fine; however, if a DVD is already out there with both tracks, removing features isn't a way to get hardcore fans to double dip....

In terms of picture quality and sound, the Superbit is way better than the DE?

Get the SB then. It's cheap at BestBuy.

One thing to consider the DE for is the movie ticket though.

Has anyone else ever seen this on their DVD.

The Aspect Ratio is a 2.35, but why is their an outline for 1.85 visible?
Has anyone is had this problem, either on this DVD or any other? I believe I've seen this before... Should I return for another copy?

Sparing you (myself, really) the drudgery of a technical report, suffice it to say it's related to the anamorphic encoding and is fine--no return is necessary, nor would be helpful.
