I shut it, but then display it proudly on my fireplace mantle, is if it is the feature presentation poster at the theatre!
Then it helps me remember what is in the DVD player and to put it away when I'm done ;) |
I find even opening the case to be so much work that I avoid it in the first place. That is to say, I never watch any of my DVDs. In fact, they're all sitting there still in the shrinkwrap.
|
I honestly have no idea. Never paid any attention.

I keep it closed

Digipak: Open
Case: usually open too. But I close it on occassion. |
In Soviet Russia, case shuts you!

It depends on the cover art of the dvd. If I like the cover art, I close the case and put it in my "safe room" that has 100 air filters going at all times... If i don't like the cover art I jump on it till my foot hurts and throw it in the trash.

I leave the case open (ajar, of course, not wide) sitting atop my DVD player (actually now on top of the newly-acquired X-Box that is sitting atop my DVD player). This makes it convenient to replace the disc in its case, and also helps remind me that a disc is in the player. Since I just got the X-Box, I'm still working out what to do with those cases when I have a game inside.
If I'm watching a disc from a larger multipack (e.g. TV series season) I have the pack out of its sleeve and sitting on a table beside the couch. |

If I bought it online I just put it in the shrink wrap and then put it in the envelope it arrived in and place it in my mailbox. |
I bought a 10,000 DVD changer so I never need cases to have to wrestle with this subject matter ever again.

Anyway, to answer the OP's question seriously, I usually close my cases. Even for TV sets that come in digi-paks and slipcases. I'll put the digi-pak back in the slipcase. For keepcases, I'll usually snap'em back shut, except for those that have those little locking tabs. I'll close the case, but won't relock the tabs. As for taking extra energy to do all these steps, WTF? Are we all becoming THAT lazy??? |

Not only that, but I put an AOL cd in it while I'm the DVD so the prongs don't expand while the DVD is out of it. And I always return the DVD case to shelf in its spot so it doesn't get dusty and the other cases don't tip over. Then I wash my hands exactly nine times, flick the light switch on and off six times, and walk around my chair in a counterclockwise circle three times before i sit down in it. And I then enjoy the movie. |
