Sony Pictures will release the skateboarding drama Lords of Dogtown on September 27th. The film, based on the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys, chronicles the adventures of the crew of 1970s California skaters who brought their surfing experience to the concrete and revolutionized the sport. The film will be available in its original 107-minute theatrical version, as well as a separate 109-minute "Unrated Extended Cut." Full specs are still forthcoming. Also look for a UMD version day and date. Retail is $28.95 apiece.

About the Unraated Edition... I have a theory that when a company releases a movie with an unrated version (especially when the version is only 1-2 minutes longer) it's just a marketing ploy to get people that saw it in the theater to see it again.
