how come other countries get DTS and we don't

I have bought Elektra,Million Dollar Baby and Constantine in DTS on ebay but when I checked em out on Amazon there is no DTS track listed. Why is this?

Because you probably bought bootlegs. Bootlegs often advertise DTS tracks and either (a) don't have them or (b) include DTS tracks that the bootlegger made by re-encoding the Dolby tracks.

I don't think they were bootlegs because the cover although different was professional looking and the quality was good but it did say it was a DVD-9

What region are those dvds? Are they R3/R0 because it is not unusual for the dvd released from the far east to include DTS.However, looking at the cover picture you provided, they look like bootleg to me.How do I know this? Because bootleg dvds are widely available here where I live and they all have the same look on their covers like that Constantine cover of yours. And they all have 'DTS' on top of the cover picture and emphasise on it being a DVD-9.

I bought a dvd from Poker Industries with Foghorn Leghorn misspelled on the cover and everyone said its legit-so sometimes spelling doesn't matter.

That Constantine is definately a bootleg. I got the R3 from cd-wow about a month ago (it came out over there earlier), and it does not have dts. The only reason I bought it, besides getting it a month early, is that their only edition is the 2-disc, and it was cheaper than the price of the one-disc version over here.

Personally, I wouldn't buy big-name titles off of ebay, especially if they claim to be all-region or from another region. If you have any doubts, check and see if you can find them at various etailers that specialize in titles from other regions, such as cd-wow, dddhouse, etc.

I just checked cd-wow, and the official R3 Million Dollar Baby does have dts, as does Elektra (even the R1 of this has DTS), and again, Constantine does not. Hope that helps.

I'd say the "Wildscreen" would make it obvious.

Those DTS tracks you are listening to on bootlegs are not very good. Stick with the US releases.

Since its a Keanu Reeves movie shouldn't it be part of the WYLD STALLYNS Collection instead?

Even without the WILDSCREEN you can see in a second that that's a bootleg cover. All the bootlegs look similar to that, with the DTS banner across the top.

AHOY ME HEARTIES!

And if you think, "I don't care if it's a bootleg, 'cause it's got DTS," you'd better think again. All they do is run the DD5.1 soundtrack through a DTS encoder, so it's DD5.1 (if that, considering it's a compressed stream that's been compressed again) but with a DTS flag. Pointless.

If this group put out such a DVD, it would make sense.

Wow. Just wow. I knew it was a boot with simply the shitty cover art and then I about died when I saw the typo.

I'm sure there are a few trustworthy people selling stuff on eBay but I haven't bought anything on there is years because it just isn't worth the risk. feral125, please tell me that picture wasn't up with the auction you "won".
