Saw Unrated 10/18/2005

Got this from Dread Central http://www.horrorchannel.com/dread/m...ticle&sid=2224

They include a behind-the-scenes featurette, "Full Disclosure: Investigating Jigsaw", the original short film Wan and Whannell did to drum up interest in the movie, something called "Jigsaw’s Worskhop", in which you build a puppet (it’s DVD-ROM), animated storyboards, an on-set preview of Saw 2, and two full commentary tracks; one by James Wan, Leigh Whannell, and Cary Elwes, and one with the Saw producers.

No word about how much extra footage, probably just a few seconds.

If this is the same as the current R2 "Uncut" disc, the difference is almost neglible. I have both R1 & R2 discs and What miniscule difference I could see wasn't was worth the DD.

I have the older dvd and will not be double dipping. I just don't see enough there to warrant it.

Never bought the first because of rumors about this release. Will pick it up even without a "Saw 2" ticket.

Hehe, my bro-inlaw called to tell me about the release, and how awesome the cover looked... and he said "and it doesn't have that stupid sawblade on front!" ... he was pissed when I showed him the smaller one in the corner

The commentary on the first disc didn't include Elwes too, so with so much new extras I may double dip on this since i love the movie.

I'm not saying that the sawblade on the original release made any sense (it didn't), but having that small image of the sawblade on the Uncut edition...?? What the hell is THAT??

I'll only double-dip if there's a ticket for Saw 2. Otherwise, the R cut is good enough.

I'm double-dipping for the new cut and the new extras.

P.S.: "Uncut", hehe...

Ditto. I don't see a huge reason for upgrading.

Same here. I liked the flick and all, but seeing the filmakers present it personally was more than enough extras for me.

Not worth an upgrade for me unless the unrated version is significantly longer.

Well, I can tell you one cool thing:

The front of the case is SOOO COOL! See the blood drops and the little saw blade? They float around beneath the plastic case!

So far I'm halfway through the (rather amusing) commentary between Wan, Whannell, and Elwes.

And if this cut is precisely the same as the version I first saw at Sundance ... then you guys shouldn't expect more than a few new scenes added in. It's extra "visual goopiness" alone; no new sequences -- as far as I know (so far). Wan helpfully mentions when you're seeing the newly-reconstituted gore-bits. (A shot of Jigsaw's head early on; some "searching the stomach" stuff from Shawnee's escape, etc.)

Full review coming soon of course, but I should also mention how fantastic this transfer looks. So I just did.

Um...I've never seen this movie, nor do I really have any huge interest in doing so. But that is really cool!

I never thought I would want to double dip for a case alone, but that does indeed sound DISTURBINGLY COOL!!!!!

So wait... the saw blade moves around, or does it only spin?

Could we have some pics?
