Dawn Of The Dead '04 - even more deleted scenes...?

Hey all,

I was watching the bonus material on my DOTD '04 DVD last night, and the Special Effects head mentioned that the one armed zombie seen during the truck scene in the beginning of the movie was a 'stage one' makeup job, because the wound was fresh; from getting it ripped off by the truck. Then he mentioned, " I don't know if that will make the final cut. " Since this interview was taken on set -- i am assuming that this was written into the script and shot (since it explains the scene we see in the final cut). So.... does anyone have any info on this? I always find it interesting, and fun, to find missing scenes like this..... especially when they are directly tied to another scene in the final cut....

Ohhh... wait. If i remember correctly, the one armed scene wasn't in the R cut at all-- perhaps what he was referring to was the zombie itself not making the final cut -- which technically it didn't. i hope my former interpretation is correct....Any insight?

Thanks,

Matt

You're correct, the one-armed guy was only in the unrated cut.

Sadly, though, even the "unrated" cut is still not wholly unedited; the shot of the naked woman walking outside Sarah Polley's car near the beginning of the movie had CG blood added to the windshield, thus introducing a visual continuity error, to obscure her nakedness. Why they put that cut back in the movie only to effectively edit it back out is completely beyond me.

What a shame, since there's no other place out there to see a naked lady.

end credits man.
funniest thing happened when i saw this in theaters opening night. first sight of credits, people start doing a mad dash out of the theater, then a girl flashed her tits, and everyone either said "holy shit" and sat back down, or worse, stood in their seats, or in the aisle to watch the rest.

I think everyone's pissed because it's kind of insulting that they've put out an UNRATED UNCUT UNCENSORED DIRECTOR'S CUT PUT THE KIDS TO BED version, yet someone still felt the need to protect the viewing audience from two seconds of a naked female body.

Josh-da-man is correct. It's not about nudity, it's about giving us the same "unrated director's cut" that other countries got on DVD. I would make the same complaint regardless of the content of the scene in question.
