DVDTalk DVD Review Search for Mozilla FireFox

Hello all,

I've created a FireFox search plugin that allows you to search for DVD reviews. It can be found here:

http://mycroft.mozdev.org/download.h...nd&category=31

Enjoy!

Thanks for noticing DVD-Basen. I've been waiting for someone to release that since I'm too lazy to configure it myself.

For those that use this plugin you may want to open

Code:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\dvd-basen_all.src
and change

PHP Code:
this:
<
input name="region" value="%">

to this:
<
input name="region" value="1"
if you only want to show region 1 reviews.

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I have firefox, but have never used any plugins. What do these do exactly? Do I just have to download them? What does DVD-Basen do? Which of the files is Desperado referring to?

Thanks,

Stew

You can read about the various firefox search plugins here;
http://mycroft.mozdev.org/download.html

Don't confuse the search plugins with extensions. The search plugin provides a drop down menu of popular search engines that you can query within firefox's toolbar, without having to navigate to the actual site.

Within the firefox application should be two text boxes. The one on the left is the 'address bar' where you type in your urls. The one on the right is the search bar. The search bar should have an icon displaying which search engine it is currently set to. Underneath the icon should be a black, upside-down arrow. If you click that it'll list all the search plugins you have installed. You can select another engine to act as the current/default.

The link in the first post will take you to a page listing various DVD-related plugins. On that page, click the links of the plugins you want to add to your "list" and it will be done. The next time you click the upside-down arrow it should show the newly added/installed plugins.

If you want to remove any plugins just delete the appropriate file located in the following folder:

Code:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins

When I get to dvd-basen_all.src it won't let me open it. It says Windows cannot open this file?

Sweet, thanks. This was my first time using Firefox plugins, so I grabbed a few more, including the Ebert, DVDCompare and Rotten Tomatoes search plugins.
