But will this be another Battlestar and the regular release has extras? I'd rather wait to get extras.

From what DigitalBits said earlier, the exclusive release and the general release will be identical. Of course, that's rumor mill material until we know for sure. But I'm real temped to get the Best Buy release.

Any word on the A/V specs for the Best Buy release?

I assume it'll be 4:3 full screen, but what sort of audio track? 2.0 or 5.1? I hope it'll be a 5.1, although I doubt it was filmed in 5.1, but that hasn't stopped other shows only done in 2.0 to be remixed to 5.1.

I wouldn't mind the exclusives so much if they offered something extra over the regular release. If it's the same or less for more money, what's the point?

At this point do we know it is going to be for more money though? I see a lot of speculation and criticism but I haven't seen the real MSRP and the only price mentioned so far is $41.99. Granted the BSG doesn't set a good example, but does anyone know the specifics of S:A&B yet?

$41 for 24 eps of a show I adore is great news for me! The only way I'm not buying this on release day is if the set doesn't have any extras.

I wonder how much cheaper this will be when it's released wide a few months later...

If it's just a few dollars, I'd just assume get it on 9/6.

Since there aren't any extras I doubt the price will be much different when the set does into wide-release. I had planned to buy it from BB anyway so I'll just pick it up on the 6th. Can't wait.

Since I don't give a crap about extras, I'll probably pick the set up from Best Buy.

I've missed this show a lot.

I'm so happy this show is coming out on DVD. But part of me won't believe it until I'm holding it in my hands.

Has any one heard anything new about the differences between this set and the general release a couple of months from now?

Best Buy has a pretty good deal on Space. You buy S:A&B and another Fox season and get 20 dollars off. I will probably go tomorrow and pick up S:A&B and Firefly.

Take care all!!

Well Thedigitalbits.com reported some time ago that the set's would be identical...

I'm for sure picking up S:AAB and Millennium Season 3 tomorrow.

It will be the same set that's at BB now.

Just picked up my copy. They're flippers. Full Screen, Dolby Surround (looks like 2.1) with Spanish and French subtitles.
Just popped it into my PC at work with 19" monitor and it doesn't look bad. It's better than my old copies at least.
Little Fox booklet inside says "TV Favorites new to DVD Coming Soon!
Alien Nation (can't wait for this one)
Hill Street Blues
Over There
Space: Above and Beyond (no idea when the general release is due)
Time Tunnel
Voyage to the Bottom of the S3ea
The White Shadow

Wow, they really cheap out on these DVDs. I can't believe they didn't even release these 16x9.

At least there is one extra, they put some of the commercials for some of the episodes

They didn't air 16x9, but they were shot 16x9 and all the FX were delivered in 16x9

Hmmm, I wonder if the fx is still in 16x9 on the dvds. But thats kind of lame that it isn't all 16x9 when they were shot that way.

So to get this straight, the OAR is 16x9. I can care less how the show was shown on television. All I want is OAR baby! I guess this is a NO SLAE for me then. And BB was soooo close to getting my $. I was just about to leave. Thanks guys for the heads up!

I am slowly coming to the conclusion that I might hold off on buying this for a DDD sale or later price drop. Especially with everything else I have bought recently plus what I will be getting very soon.

I think it's still worth picking up, because I think this is the only way you are ever going to get this show. Certain people inside Fox seem to hate this show right from the start and still seem intent on treating it badly. If you liked the show when it air, that's what's on these DVDs. The show was done in 16x9 incase it was a huge success and Fox could have re-aired it in widescreen, but I can't ever see that happening.

Could you elaborate? Didn't think there was outright animosity toward the show.

So no extras on the set whatsoever?
