I think that dvd is one of the best dvds released on the market, that is just coming from me since I think some would differ. As for that scan, that is obviously the original Polygram pressing, which is more collectible than the Universal issue. One of the reasons is the insert is different and features most of the characters in the film, also there is a difference in the covers as well. Though, the Universal release will probably become collectible as well if the new CE features a new transfer.

LOL. No shit. I was thinking the same thing, or that they only bought it to show at their adult Sunday school class for a discussion on the immoralities of society, or something.

Based on Universal's DVD track record (problems w/ Meaning of Life, Casino, etc) I'm holding on to my original DVD until I know the new disc actually plays correctly!

I have the old and new Casino dvd and I haven't had a problem, though it is a dvd-14. The only trouble is that both transfers for Casino look identical to each other. So I am hoping that Universal doesn't use the current audio/video transfer for the Big Lebowski CE. It like may happen, man!

I just hope they dont tie in this release with the announcement that they're making "Big Lebowski 2: Little dude" with Seth Green as his son on a quest to find his dad.

No, they really don't. Not at all.

DVD Planet lists the three different versions (Wide, Full, Collectors), but it looks like the regular versions will be one disc and the "gift set" version is two discs. Interesting...really looking forward to an official announcement on this.

Yeah, he is. Me and several other DVDTalkers have it on pre-order, and are highly anticipating it.

hopefully it's a second DVD, and not just the soundtrack CD or something.

I don't know...personally, I hope that all the special feature content is on one disc. Although I want all the available special features, I'm not looking to shell out an additional twenty dollars or so to get it, along with the rest of the gift set, which I don't really want. I love the movie, but I don't need a "gift."

i'm sure the gift set will include more than just a second disc. paying $30 extra for just an extra disc doesn't make sense.. and it's supposed to be a gift set, which usually entails something non-DVD that you get with it.

True, but I don't want anything other than the disc contents, and I'll be upset if I have to pay $20-$30 extra for a second disc and some non-DVD item that I don't want.

My favorite comedy of all time, but I probably wont double dip on this one. A special edition with the coen brothers usualy means a 9:00 featurette.

Hopefully this will be the movie they actually cave and give us some real extras, but I'm not holding my breath.

How awesome would it be if the gift was an artificial toe in a box.

I was going to guess that the DVD will come packaged in a bowling bag, but I like your idea better!

I'd buy the gift set if Amazon had it delivered to me by Tara Reid.

Who knows? This could be a-a-a-a lot more, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, complex, I mean, it's not just, it might not be just such a simple... uh, you know?
