Is a new Widescreen Grumpy Old Men on the way?

I was flipping through channels earlier and noticed TMC airing Grumpy Old Men in what looked to be a new widescreen transfer (I have the LD and it looked better than it) so is WB gonna finally release this and hopefully Grumpier Old Men in Widescreen on DVD? I would hope for an SE, but since most of the main cast has passed on I think the extras would probally be just tribute stuff and old EPK footage. I would have loved a Matthua & Lemmon commentary

In the last HTF chat, I believe Warner Bros said that they don't currently have any plans for a re-release of these movies.

As for a Matthau/Lemmon commentary, I personally would rather have had that on something other than their Grumpy Old Men movies, but that's just me.

Good if true.

I want the 1st and 2nd movie so bad, but I don't want crappy Foolscreen which I think the 2nd one only comes in. Not too mention crappy snapper cases for both.

While I want both movies I will wait to see if the are re-released, unless of course I find them and the price is right!

It is a shame that, here in 2005, we still don't have OAR versions of these two movies, Ace Ventura, numerous others. Even Universal is re-releasing The Jerk and (finally) The Sting this year. Come on, WB....

I've held off on buying these becuase of the FS aspect. Even at the $5 and under that you can get the films for nowadays, it still wont get me to buy it until its OAR. Two funny as heck films that deserve better.

For what it's worth, the two discs out there are open matte, not pan 'n' scan. While I normally will only buy OAR, I assumed these would be open matte and bought them when the price was low enough.

I just treat them like non-anamorphic widescreen and zoom them in on my widescreen set. The framing looks correct, and I can enjoy these movies now without having to wait for a proper release.

Amazon.com has this as well, listed as widescreen. Good find, Canadian Bacon.

Hopefully this won't be a flipper disc with a movie on both sides for that price. I have the two previously released dvds that were housed in a nice box that complements them both.

Great news! I love these films and they are at a great price to. I enjoyed watching the 1st film in Widescreen on cable more than with the 4:3 dvd.

I can finally rid myself of two more crappy Warner Fool screen releases.

Excellent! I'm in for this. No matter how many times I've watched these movies they always get a laugh out of me.

Parts of the first one were filmed in my hometown. My father owns an apartment building and when we saw it in the theatre he was so excited that in the opening credits you get to see his building in the distance.

If I don't buy them for myself....I'll buy them for my parents, maybe both

Amazon has it listed as 1 disc. I really hope this isn't a flipper.
