Lost and Alias a third of the price of Aeon Flux?Originally Posted by why_gnat
But movie DVDs and TV DVDs are different. To compare like things, I just don't get how a Lost or Alias season can be a third of the price as Aeon Flux.
Most places I see Aeon Flux priced at or around $27. If Lost or Alias were only a third of that price, trust me...I'd have them all, because they'd be $9.

no no no no no...it's a third, if you use his formula to determine a dvd's cost/value which is "how many minutes of a show do i get per dollar". Originally Posted by Tarantino

For those of you who have comcast digital cable there are 5 episodes of Aeon Flux, the trailer for the new movie, and a video game trailer On Demand. Its pretty cool and for those of you who never seen the show and dont want to blind buy you can check it out. Of course those bastards at MTV put random promos and ads in the episodes. Check it out while you still can, its available until mid December.

Looks like Best Buy has a bonus CD featuring songs from the show included, while Circuit City has a bonus DVD. Anyone know what's on it? My guess is it's promo material for the movie.

Could we find out what's on the CD and DVD? I was planning on buying Aeon Flux at work (Fred Meyer), but if BB or CC have something that really makes it worth it, I'd certainly go there.

According to the sticker on the packaging: "Exclusive FREE* Aeon Flux Music CD Included! Featuring 11 songs From The Original Series" *With purchase of this DVD. While supplies last.
I'm guessing it's packaged inside, as I can't find anything else that we got to go with it and there's no listing in our inventory for a separate promo item. No clue what's on the Circuit City DVD though, as I don't work there.

Anyone else see this? i just found it on an Aeon Flux forum
From Video Business mailing 10/19/05:
MTV scatters Flux before film
The cult animated series Aeon Flux will be released as a comprehensive box set by MTV Home Entertainment on Nov. 22, to capitalize on the Dec. 2 opening of the live-action theatrical version starring Charlize Theron.
Supervised by series creator Peter Chung, Aeon Flux: The Complete Animated Collection (available now; $38.99) contains every short from the MTV series Liquid Television, which featured the character, as well as the 10 full-length episodes of the Flux series. Also included are two featurettes and inside glimpses at the animation process, as well as footage from Chung's other work in short animation and commercials.
"One of the biggest differences about the episodes as they appear here," says Chung, "is the picture quality. We went back to the original 35mm negatives and transferred them at [high-definition] video resolution. The picture and audio quality is better than it has ever been."
Chung shies away from strictly defining his sexy lead character and her futurist, high-tech environment, but he does volunteer that the slinky Aeon is both "a freedom fighter and a criminal … she's an agent provocateur, living in an alternate present" where she clashes with and seduces stoic government leader Trevor Goodchild.
In case viewers are still puzzled and want to learn more about La Femme Flux, they can consult the package's first featurette, "Investigation: The History of Aeon Flux," which consists of interviews with Chung and his principal collaborators. "Desiderata: The Deviant Devices of Aeon Flux," narrated by Denise Poirier (the voice of the character), provides fanboys and girls with "a catalog of all the strange gadgets, weapons and vehicles in the series," says Chung.
The fanbase for the show "is equally male and female," according to Chung. The Flux shorts, which aired from 1991 to 1993, "had a lot of female fans, and so when they wanted a female demographic, they OK’d the full-length episodes," which aired in 1995.
Chung takes pride in the set's packaging, which he helped design, but is particularly enthusiastic about the fact that MTV allowed him to go back and fine-tune his work. "We remixed the shows and, in some cases, recorded new dialog. There are some things we were forced to change in the original version for TV, and so I took this opportunity to go back and make it closer to what our initial intent was."
Though he wasn't involved in the creation of the forthcoming theatrical feature, he does have good news for fans of the animated Aeon: "We're talking about bringing her back in animated form. MTV wants to wait and see how the box set and the movie do with audiences, but it will happen, in one form or another."

Wow that would be crazy if there was a family guy like return of this show. If so i hope it doesnt suck.

Well, according to Circuit City's ad today, the bonus DVD contains some Liquid Television shorts. Guess I'll be going to CC.

Hi. Is this ad online? I looked at this week's flyer and didn't see Aeon Flux mentioned at all.. Do you know if I can order online and have it with the bonus disc picked up at a Circuit City?
Thanks
Thanks

Besides the tweaks to the episodes, which I don't mind since I never saw most of them, is there anything not on this release that was on the original DVD release? I have a sealed copy of that and wouldn't mind getting rid of it in order to get the new release.

It was the usual ad that comes with the Sunday paper. Though if you're in Canada, you might get a different ad. Originally Posted by johnsun

And the CC page for Aeon Flux doesn't mention anything about the bonus DVD, so I'd say you probably have to buy it in store.

There's a link to it if you click on it via the Weekly Ad.

I hope it has Richard Sala's "Invisible Hands," or Charles Burns' "Dog Boy." (Hopefully it'll be longer than 10 minutes.)
Anybody know how many they're getting per store?

I'm going on lunch, I'll try and report back but won't be able to check the disc until after work.
Does anybody know what Liquid TV shorts are on the Aeon Flux set itself, or how long? The reviews mention them but not the specifics.

It looks as though the Circuit City bonus disc is shrinkwrapped inside the package. I talked to the manager, and he said they didn't receive anything separate for it. I haven't opened it yet, but there's a distinct bulge in the packaging, so I assume it's in there. All of the copies at this location had a "bonus disc" sticker on them.

I knew this was a great-looking set the first time I saw a picture of the packaging.. I was on the fence before that, but the cover-art blew me away and I just had to have it. I just got back from picking this up, and it looks even better in person! I'll try to take a look at some of the content over the weekend.

Ok,
Which B&M has the 'best' version? BB is $27, CC is $28
1) Will CC price match BB?
2) Is CC's 'extra' disk better or different that BBs? (are they diffferent?)
thanks!

I'm curious too. The Best Buy ad says "Free Bonus CD" though, so it might be more of a soundtrack than the Liquid Television disk that Circuit City has.
