Z CHANNEL - Netflix Exclusive???
Anyone know what's going on with a DVD release of the 2004 documentary "Z CHANNEL - A MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION". It has apparently aired quite a bit on IFC after it's brief theatrical run, but there's no DVD release date, at least that I can find.
However, Netflix has the DVD and it's available now! I can't find any on-line retailers that sell it or even have an upcoming listing for it. Is this a weird Netflix exclusive?

Maybe Netflix has some deal to get documentaries for an exclusive period before wide release. They had "Overnight" available well before the release date, as well.

Thanks, guys, never knew Netflix had so many exclusive titles. I wonder how many of those end up never getting an official DVD release. Some of them are pretty obscure.

Is this ever going to get an official release? There were Emmy screeners sent out that you can find on Ebay (and probably thrift stores in the LA area, if you're lucky enough to be there- I got tons of exclusive stuff down there last year) but I'm hoping they'll do a DVD release with some extra material like the channel's movie intros and stuff. If there isn't going to be one I'll have to break down and get the Emmy disc, or have a friend who subscribes to Netflix get it for me.
I've got a couple Beta tapes with movies taped from the Z Channel dating from 1977 to 1982, and I transferred all the movie intros and breaks onto DVD for posterity. I was thinking of selling copies of it on Ebay if there's any interest.
