I'll just blast Metallica while watching this and call it a day...

Watch it. It's an amazing entrance! Possibly the best ever.

ReservoirDog45 06-29-05 03:37 PM

So what's the final deal here? Is it just different music or did anything else get edited?

PixyJunket 06-29-05 04:04 PM

Sounds like the Metallica theme is the only victim.

bluthswede6 06-29-05 05:12 PM

Just watched it again and the Metallica theme is the only real omission from the June 12 broadcast. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Sure, we had fans mouthing the words to a song that wasn't there, but the entrance was still alright with the wordless song too.

The JBL commentary was actually done while he was in the rafters. It isn't much of a commentary at all actually as he really just makes assinine comments for a couple hours.

True, but has anyone thought that maybe it would have taken a long time to clear the music? They wanted to get this out before the Shane Douglas show on DVD, so they might have not had enough time to get it all taken care of.

I'm still waiting for my DDD order that includes this and will look around for the uncut version.

Yep, you even have to put up with hearing Orlando Jordan babble on occasion. "He's my doorman" was said about 20 times in reference to Tanaka. It is a worthless track as it really is just a drunk JBL ripping ECW for 2 hours. I'm not sure who would be interested in that. I only listened to bits and pieces just out of curiousity and it was impossible to listen to (As the regular commentary is turned off).

Class316 06-29-05 11:18 PM

Does anyone know if any of RVD's shoot comments were censored?

JJE-187 06-29-05 11:24 PM

Hopefully WWE will release an Uncensored version with a 2nd Bonus Disc (they could put all the Wrestlers who were on the Show debut matches for ECW) If other studios are doing the whole Rated then Unrated thing why not WWE

CM04 06-29-05 11:28 PM

I dont think the WWE have put out a 2nd edition of any of it's DVDs thus far, have they? In fact, the only DVDs they seem to put any thought into are the compilations (ie, the likes of Hogan, Michaels and Flair).

amped 06-29-05 11:33 PM

It's word for word on the dvd.

When RVD called himself the whole fuckin show, that was bleeped, but it was done so on the PPV as well.

Oh. I heard in the PPV replays they censored the speech. Good thing it's here intact.

neilo13 06-30-05 08:14 AM

I was planning on buying this, however, if the f*words are bleeped out I will be skipping this, maybe give it a rental. When will the WWE air PPVs that are not censored, I always felt ripped off when I paid $30 or more for a show and I can't even hear the f*bomb.

Groucho 06-30-05 08:30 AM

Crap, if you want to here the f-bomb so much, post your phone # and I'll give you a call.

In addition to the rather interesting JBL commentary, there were a number of changes to the ECW: One Night Stand DVD. The out of context promo with Roadkill and Danny Doring has been removed completely, while ads for The Rise and Fall Of ECW and WWE 24/7 replace the Devil's Rejects and Vengeance advertisements.

Due to a TV-14 listing, most of the expletives are edited out of the show. The only glaring case of the production crew making an error is during the final celebration; Sandman clearly says "E-C-*****ing-W."

One of the biggest changes was replacing the Metallica version of "Enter Sandman" with generic WWE music. The crowd noise is also muted, so the hot scene with the crowd singing along is not a part of the DVD.

neilo13 06-30-05 10:09 AM

Can anyone explain why PPVs receive a tv rating? and even though they do, why the hell would you pay for something that is going to be censored?

When ECW had PPVs back in the day, I was excited because I thought, "Shizzle, if they can do this on broadcast TV, I wonder what they will do on PPV". Well they never disappointed, but we never got a barbedwire match or anything that could never be shown on broadcast TV. I have always felt that PPVs should be unrated. If I'm going to pay $30 to watch the damn event, then I don't want to hear cuss words bleeped out, it just feels cheap and like a broadcast tv event, which would not be costing me $30.

This is one major reason why I stopped ordering ECW PPVs, something like ECW should be unrated and not confined to a rating (or in the least be rated M). I felt that if they were going to charge me $25 or $30 for an event they should not keep it at a TV-14 rating, I could watch that on TV. Has anyone ever not ordered a PPV because the rating was too high? I doubt it.

Now with that being said, even if I did agree that the PPV could be censored cause little Jimmy might be watching with his parents, why would they not offer an uncensored dvd version? I understand the music license issues (although that does take away from some of the entrance excitement) but why am I not given the option as a consumer to purchase an uncensored dvd?

Does anyone else agree with me, or am I just crazy?

They could pay for the rights to 45 seconds of a song, or they can pay the full year's salary of a developmental guy, or someone on the crew, or any number of people employed by the WWE. Yes the company makes a lot of money, but they also pay a lot of money.

Blame the asshat band. Blame the record company.

Class316 06-30-05 12:06 PM

I don't waste money on PPVs for various reasons.

Besides the fact that the DVD would be cheaper, I use "alternate" means to watch the PPV live. Also, PPVs would also be up for download within 24 hours.

The re-released The Rock: Just Bring It as a 2-Disc version.

That's true. However the re-release, while adding a second disc of extras, has the black WWE logo superimposed over the older version's scratch WWF logo. There are no blurs or audio bleeps in the actual presentation though.

GmoneyOwnsYou 06-30-05 02:16 PM

The Wrestlemania 15-19 DVDs are all two discs and 20-21 are three discs. The Rise and Fall of ECW is a two discer too. Anyway, Metallica or no Metallica, for me it isnt worth skipping out on this DVD.

So they don't say 'fuck'. Big fucking deal. You know what they're saying, why does it make such a difference?
