Didn't both sets come out in October of their respective years? We'll probably get an official announcement soon (though it is odd that no details or rumored lists have leaked yet).

yah...seems like an announcement should be coming. I'm waiting for Warner to send out the monster press release that includes Wizard of Oz (which has already been reported) as well as King Kong, Looney Tunes Gold 3, Kong is the last title from the HTF chat not to be given a release date...I kept thinking that it would be announced this week since the trailer was on tv and ran with Fantastic 4 all weekend...

If you read Jerry Beck's site at http://www.cartoonbrew.com and the forum mentioned in Post #2 of this thread then you will see that tons of care have been put into the first two sets. Not everything is perfect, but tons of material has been restored, including several bits that have been censored for years...
"Watch THE DOVER BOYS, listen for "Unhand her Dan Backslide". Dan is lying on the floor but all you can see is the top of his shoe. In the 16mm print I had several years ago, he is fully visible at the bottom of the image...SHAME on Warner for not windowboxing these. How many times are the tops of heads cut off, sides of words missing, cast members at the far sides of frames cropped either partially or ENTIRELY...(watch HOLLLYWOOD REVUE)."
Also this from Amazon.com (and sorry if this is getting off-topic):
"...But the most blatent cut is when Elmer is dreaming (within in the Big Snooze) and Bugs Bunny is shown taking a "single sleeping pill". A true fan who knows the cartoon and who owns the VHS tapes, knows that in the original Bugs guzzled and overdosed on an entire bottle of pills."

Today I noticed something that really disapointed and annoyed the hell out of me and my girlfriend, while watching the short "The Three Little Bops". My girlfriend asked to turned the Spanish audio on the short, and the dialogue was changed drastically from its original Spanish version, since the new audio now has different voice actors and makes references to Luis Miguel (Mexican singer, fomer boyfriend of Mariah Carey) and Big Brother, which is a huge hit on Mexican TV. I found this tweaking of the track very disrespectful, since this would be similar to the English track of a 1950's cartoon being updated with references to Britney Spears and Survivor, so it will attract the newer generations. And I know that this tweaking was completely unnecesary since I saw this same short last week on our local Telemundo and it had the original Spanish audio track.
Thinking that this was an isolated situation of one short having an updated dubbing, I began checking the rest of the episodes and poof.... all of the shorts have updated Spanish dialogue, making recent pop culture references along the way. I thought that this Golden Collection was supposed to be a preservation of these culture icons and their legacy, but it seems that WB forgot its Spanish speaking adult fans and decided that an updated dubbing was necessary for no reason whatsoever. I'm going to email WB to know why they did this, but I believe that they should restore the original Spanish dubbing to all this shorts, to preserve their original form.

Wow, pretty amazing they would do this. I agree that it's a bad move. I don't speak Spanish but I thought I'd check this out (as much as I could).
As you mentioned about Luis Miguel, I noticed they substituted "Liberace" with "Luis Miguel" in the new dub... but the piggie still does the "my brother George" line (a running Liberace joke back then) which probably would not make sense unless Luis Miguel has a brother named George.
I was curious where they put the "Big Brother" reference?

another announcement on our end is we have a replacement disk program in
place for Looney Tunes Golden Collection Vol 2, Disc 4. The discs were incorrectly
manufactured with some cartoons in the interlaced rather than the progressive format.
We will provide you with info on how consumers can send in for replacement discs at no
charge.
