Carnivale Season 2?

This may have been asked, but when I did a search, I didn't find it, so apologies if it's been discussed...

Any news on when Carnivale Season 2 will be released?

Thanks.

I can't find any info yet, but I hope it's before the next DDDVD sale! I just picked up season one at a great price!

I ordered season one yesterday, and can't wait for season 2. Hope it's soon.

This show was a surprisingly good blind buy! I just moved into a house about a month ago and finally I can watch HBO. Hopefully I get this within enough time to watch it, before season 3 airs. There is going to be a season 3 correct?

Oh man, that's awful news. So the story is pretty much left without an ending then?

IMO yes. The creator planned the series as three two season chapters so some say that it is complete enough being the end of chapter one. I don't buy it, there are too many things left unanswered, and it does end with a cliffhanger of sorts.

That's too bad, this show was really put together very well, at least in season 1 that I can say for sure. Well, I'll still buy Season 2 when it gets released.

would i love to see 2 more 2 season chapters? hell ya. as i would love 5 more seasons of Twin Peaks. but im satisfied with what it is out there now, im not too bothered by the cliffhangers. Twin Peaks and countless movies have ended similarly. thats just how i will view Carnivale. but i would love to see more.

HBO releases for the most part happen a year apart, so I would expect to see season 2 around December 6, 2005.

While that's probably, the cancellation of Carnivale may also affect its dvd release(hopefully making the dvd come out sooner rather than later).

I'm eagerly anticipating this set myself, but I'm hoping for some good bonus material. If it takes a little time to come up with some worthwhile extras, that's fine with me.

I'm still stunned by the early demise of Carnivale. It was such a good show, and I was really looking forward to seeing where they would have gone with it.

At least I have the season two set to look forward to, and if it's anywhere as good as the first season, it'll be amazing. Hopefully it'll have some good commentaries and extras that might tie a few things up for us.

I read somewhere that HBO is delaying this DVD set because they want to milk some more out of reshowings. Which is a shame -- I was hoping to get both sets (the whole series) as a Christmas gift for someone this year, but it doesn't look like its going to happen by then.

The thought of this makes my brain hurt. They can't have it both ways, can they? Can they?

They have a monopoly on it, so they can do just about anything they want.

Of course, they'd have a hard time stopping me from re-watching the HDTV recordings I made of season 2 the first time it aired.

Why did HBO cancel Carnivale anyways? Ratings weren't high enough?

Yes, I believe it was the low ratings. I see a lot of similarities between this show and Lost, too bad Carnivale didn't have the same fanbase.

It does appear to be based on poor ratings. Which, for HBO, is a stupid reason.

They don't need to sell airtime to commercials, so ratings don't matter. What matters is subscription revenue, so as long as they were seeing subscription revenue inline with expectations, then they should not be cancelling any shows.

I heard it was a legal issue where someone claimed that one of the scripts stole their idea...or something. If ratings were good enough HBO might have stood by Carnivale, but with the low ratings it wasn't worth fighting for. So it was a combination of things.
