I think this is what ROBERTCOP34 was trying to say:
"And, by the way, I saw the trailer for 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.' I'm sorry - I think it is not very good. I will stick with this one. I love Tim Burton & Johnny Depp, but they are not getting my money on this not very good movie."
It's amazing what punctuation, proper grammar and spelling, and pronouns can do to make a sentence understandable.

Per DVD Empire, the UPC of the original (snapper) WS SE is 085392229123. The new (keepcase) WS SE is 085393893422, according to Empire. Not surprisingly, they are different.

That being said... while I'm giving the movie a chance, I'm sitting here opening a case of the trading cards, and I have a feeling that no matter how much more this one stays faithful to the book, it's not going to be as good as the Gene Wilder movie.

Has anyone actually read this book recently? I read it again last week, and I have to say that the 1970s movie was pretty damn faithful, both in terms of actual plot and in 'spirit'.
Sure a few things were changed (only 1 parent per kid in the factory, no Charlie's father, geese instead of squirrels, addition of fizzy lifting sequence)... but none of that was detrimental to the story. In fact, I think some of the stuff in the movie worked better than in the book.
Burton's film may be fantastic (although I have my doubts)... but this attempt I've been seeing lately in the press to brand the first film as "unfaithful" is just silly.

Still, it's not surprising that Zanuck et al are claiming superiority to the 70s film. If they said, "Yeah, the original film was great and awesome, and so is ours," it may be a bit "nicer," but it's not going to convince people to see the new one.

I have reread the book recently - and the simple fact that the squirrel scene is now back in the movie as well as the happy ending - the trailer indicate that this inclusion has been reinstated - seem to suggest that all the scenes present in the book are on screen now.

I did a price match at Best Buy. Their regular price is $14.99, so its a roughly 50 percent savings! I was able to get a widescreen version, but full screen at Best Buy outnumbered widescreen by 2-1, or maybe even 3-1.
