I never claimed to be "special"--but thanks for your sneering comment nonetheless.

My point was only that people have different tastes in films--not that my taste is somehow superior to anyone (or everyone) else's. I happen to like foreign, classic, art, and indie films, but I would never look down on someone else's collection if it contained films that don't personally interest me. I like my collection; you like yours. More power to both of us.

Well, the thought would have probably never crossed my mind if you hadn't prefaced your list with "No Star Wars, Indiana Jones...trilogies for me". That comment followed by a list of foreign and artsy films just came off as a kind of an 'elitist film snob' comment.

The mainstream trilogies:

No, you just made sure to point out to everyone that you don't own certain popular titles. It made you look very cool, trust me. Even cooler is that, after you patted yourself on the back, you acted like it never happened. You're on a roll here.

From: Bat Country
The Apu trilogy
Star Wars (original)
Die Hard
Ingmar Bergman's "Faith trilogy"
Fassbinder's "BRD" Trilogy
The Gidget series (though I know calling those a "trilogy" is a big stretch)
Te Adventures of Indiana Jones
Back to the Future
The Godfather
Robert Rodriguez's "El Mariachi" trilogy
The Omen- if you don't count the last TV movie entry (shudder!)
Lord of the Rings
Sleepaway Camp
That's Entertainment!
Kieslowski's Three Colors trilogy
The Evil Dead trilogy
Romero's "Dead" trilogy (changed the day Land of the Dead is released, but there I go anyway...)
The Terminator movies
... and the very unofficial "trilogy" of Christopher Guest's mockumenataries Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind.

*I didn't count Renoir's colorful French Can-Can, The Golden Coach & Elena as a trilogy because I don't see how they are at all, and Renoir didn't consider them to be, so not included.
I'm a bit eclectic and have a wide range of taste in case that looks really random to anyone...

So they say one thing, then you assume what they mean and make a rude comment, and then I chime in to tell you that you're looking like the bad guy in this situation, and soon enough we all have anarchy.

The solution? Keep your comments to yourself.
