Superman Boxset?

Does anyone think there will be a new box set culminating with the release of the new Superman next year? Or at least new special editions of the first two movies which are obviously the most popular of the 4?

I'm thinking yes since both 1 and 2 are fairly barebones considering it's WB and their recent 2 disc re-releases of many of their old dvds.

What do you think?

I am sure there will be some cross promotion and possibly new dvds. However, the original Superman is already a very nice dvd with TONS of extra features. Superman 2 has needed an upgrade since the original boxset release as the transfer is poor and there are no special features. Yet Warner has stated over and over that the Donner version is not headed for dvd. I don't know if they will do a new release, but we can always hope. I could easily see just a repackaging (no snappers) and more promotion.

I'd be happy with simply an upgrade of Superman II. Better audio/video quality, and some extras. This movie is too good to be treated so generically on DVD.

(New keepcases would be great too!)

I'm sure they'll take the already great Superman I dvd release and put it on 2 discs in a nice keepcase.

My wish, like many others, is the director's cut of Superman II, but doesn't look like that will ever happen.

I don't see anything "barebones" about Superman 1...Superman 2 could use some work tho.

The only reason I could see a new edition of Superman 1 is it seems that it is barebones in terms of the recent standard WB has set with all of their new special editions. It does definitely have a lot of features but my thinking is they may upgrade it so it's more on par with the new 2 disc sets.

I'd love to see the expanded Superman III as well. A Superman IV director's cut doesen't seem likely though since the excised footage has been destroyed.

Was there not a scene in either Superman I or II down in Lex Luthor's lair that supposedly had some kind of creature in a pit?

Superman I, and they've re-inserted it back into the DVD.

With the death of Christopher Reeve, I'm sure that'll give them more incentive to make more special features: "Remembering Superman" etc.

I hope they do.....Superman 1 is the only one with 5.1 sound and the other 3 are just 2.0. Grrrr. Not like the couldn't have filled all 3 of them with at LEAST 5.1 since there's not much features on the last 3.

It was Superman I, but those scenes weren't re-inserted into the movie (I just watch it last month). They were just on the disc listed in the deleted scenes section.

It would be nice to have the theatrical cut of the first movie.

I would be beyond shocked if they don't do any type of Superman DVD re-release to coincide with the new movie. Didn't the WB reps from the HTF chat even say that something is being done?

I heard that Superman: The Animated Series volume 2 and 3 will be coming out when the new Superman movie hit theaters, but no new DVDs of the movies.

From the recent HTF WB Chat:

[John] Can you give us an update on any chance for a re-release of
the Superman films on DVD? Will we ever get the original theatrical
edition of Superman: The Movie on DVD? Will the sequels get better
treatment? And will we ever see an alternate cut of Superman II?

[WarnerHomeVideo] All of the issues you bring up are currently on
our radar. We are exploring all the possible opportunities. That's
all we can say at the moment. Keep your fingers crossed and watch
the skies!!!

Is there any update on when 'The Adventures Of Superman' might be released (The one starring George Reeves)?
