Will there be a single disc Back to the Future release?
Does anybody know if there are any plans for a single disc Back to the Future release?
I love the first film. But I didn't care for the two sequels. I have no intrest in paying for all three films when I only want the original.
Also, I don't want to purchase the box set because of all the problems with the widescreen release I have read about.

The Widescreen problem you speak of is practically non-existant now. You may still find a few copies in Wal-Mart's or other B&M stores, but it's rather unlikely. Just make sure the one you buy has a GREEN sticker that says "widescreen" on it. Red stickers are on the defective widescreen copies, and yellow stickers are on the full frame copies.
Also, I'm not sure about in the US, but here in Canada, the trilogy sells for less than your average new-release DVD. Meaning, you can buy The Incredibles for $29.99 CAD, or you can buy the BTTF Trilogy for $25.99 CAD. For that price, it's worth owning the sequels (I personally liked Part II, but I'll probably never watch Part III again)

yeah, even if you don't like all 3, who cares, even if do come out with a single disc, that'll probably retail at $14.99 and the trilogy is $20-$25.00 at a lot of places....basically 5 bucks each for the other two.

Wasn't the trilogy set supposed to be reissued with corrected mattes, then go OOP after a couple months? A SE of the first film was to follow later in the year. Wasn't that the whole point of the "Outta Time" promotion back in February?

There was a list of 2005 Universal releases going around, and it did have BTTF: SE on it. My guess, though, is that they'll split them up rather than create a whole new special edition. As was said above, outside of the Eric Stoltz footage, what more could they do (and that Eric Stoltz footage just won't be happening)?

I believe the answer to the OP's question is "No", inasmuch as the SE that's supposedly coming out by the end of the year (it might be just a rumor, as Cameron said; I've been a little out of touch for the past month or two) was to be a two-disc release.

There are still photos on the BTTF Fan Web Site of Stoltz in the role.
Michael J. Fox was perfect in the role, so Zemeckis was right on.
