Bosom Buddies?

Tom Hanks is such a huge Hollywood icon, I'm surprised this series isn't out on DVD yet. In fact, I've never even heard it mentioned for possible release. Anyone know if and when it could be available?

The Infidel 06-06-05 01:34 AM

I asked the same thing myself in another thread just last week.

Tarantino 06-06-05 01:56 AM

Never heard of it, but it screams 'gay'.

Close, but merely "transvestite". :)

For those who truly aren't familar with the show, think Some Like It Hot done in the style of Three's Company.

That description pretty much nails it!

This was a great sitcom with a wonderful cast, and one of my favs - let's hope that it eventually shows up!

Paramount did mention this title last year as being in the works. Haven't heard anything since though.

Still no release date :( but TVShowsOnDVD.com has posted the cover art for Season 1! It's too bad they're not releasing both seasons together; I really hope we don't have to wait another three years -eek- for Season 2...

Rob

Rogue588 11-22-06 03:14 PM

There were only two seasons? :hscratch:

Wendie Jo Sperber, RIP.

calhoun07 11-22-06 06:09 PM

Lame. We waited all this time and the least they could have done is release a series set.

Donna Dixon lived around 10 miles from me way back when. She sure did fall off the map the last 10 years or so.

We have a release date! March 13, 2007

The question is....did they get the rights to the Billy Joel song or not? I have to say, without the opening theme song, it's not going to be the same.

marty888 11-29-06 07:56 AM

YES!

In the past few weeks several of my "most wanted" movies were announced (<i>The Gang's All Here, Never Give A Sucker an Even Break, Apartment Zero</i> and now this!

I'm a happy camper. (No pun intended -wink-)

IG80Nate 11-29-06 10:49 AM

Oh hell yes.

Now I can get rid of my decaying videotapes... :)

LorenzoL 11-29-06 11:09 AM

I'm not too crazy about the cover art but as long as we are getting the complete episodes, I'm okay about it.

Agree

IG80Nate 11-29-06 05:44 PM

I don't care if Peter Scolari and Telma Hopkins team up to sing the theme- I'm just glad it's finally coming out on DVD.

I so look forward to revisiting that show.

I remember once when it was in syndication, they had a completely different theme song... think it was when USA Network aired it way back in ancient history.

That was a vocal version ("You'll never be J. Paul Getty...")of the instrumental that played under the credits called "Shake Me Loose." It replaced the cover of "My Life" on the VHS releases, too. Hopefully the many songs used - or sung - over the course of the show will also remain intact on DVD: "Macho Man" and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do," to name two, as well as "Yakety Yak" and "The Boy From..." in the second season.

This is still one of my favorite sitcoms and I have my fingers crossed that nothing gets screwed up, considering how ridiculous the music liscensing issue has gotten. It's been almost 25 years since I've seen these episodes without syndication cuts, and I'm crossing my fingers for no music-related cuts.

God. Dammit. Like I needed anymore bad news. Thanks, Paramount - you just turned one sure purchase and two gift purchases into one Netflix rental.

calhoun07 03-05-07 06:05 PM

This kind of thing should be democratic. Paramount should post on their website how much the set would cost if they put money up for the Billy Joel song and how much it would be without (and warn us what would replace it) and let the fans vote. Hell, it's OUR money that's going into this thing in the end when we buy it.

And, of course, I could go into my usual rant about the music industry and the RIAA and all that but what's the point anymore?

And I used to watch it when it was first run and in syndication...I never recall any other theme than the Billy Joel song. WTF are they talking about what was "intended" to be the theme?
