New Face Off DVD???
I've seen it mentioned in threads before, that Face Off was going to be getting a new release, sometimes even with a street date, but I've never seen it show up in the list of upcoming releases.
So were all those earlier talks just guesswork and rumor? Will Face Off ever get a new release?
I watched my VHS of it last night. I really love this film, but I've avoided buying the current DVD because I was hoping for an updated/improved release. The current release is non-anamorphic, right?
If there is a new release, I hope they can fix those few instances where the cables on the stunts are visible. I watched it recently on cable and the VHS, and there's at least a few instances where you can see them - as I recall, on a guy in the airport hangar scene at the start, and later in the scene where Castor's brother falls through the skylight.
If you can see them on cable broadcast and VHS, I can only imagine how they'll stick out on a DVD transfer.

never noticed all that, but i thought the picture was pretty good on that dvd
i wouldn't mind another dvd release because i've always had trouble with that particular dvd playing without problems on my dvd player (several copies)...

That's probably the thread I remembered. And I see you bumped it.
But it's still not showing in the release list. I've usually considered that list to be pretty much all inclusive. So if it is coming, why isn't it showing there?

This is a very solid film. With excellent performances from both Cage/Travolta, I have the original dvd released by Paramount. I am quite happy with it, though, I would consider upgrading if the film got the royal treatment from Paramount. Speaking of tie ins, It would have made more sense to release this as a SE when National Treasure was released this year in early May.
