I guess the question is, do they each still have their own boxes under that packaging, or are they bare? I think it's better having their own boxes, helps them stand up to the rest of the DVDs better, and a little less likely to get smooshed.

Have you guys been successful in getting the smell out? Back when I got the first BOTD, I placed it on the balcony for a day and that took care of it. This second one seems to be a tougher cookie.

I took it out of the wrapper the day I got it, placed it on my shelf with my other dvds and never smelled it once. There was never a room-filling odor when it was new nor now.

Do some of you pick it up and put the case to your nose every day or each time you watch it?

My ED2 BotD never had a smell to it, only the ED BotD.

Will that limited edition 2 pack be available at Amazon?, I couldnt see it listed there. I dont own either films so it seems the best time to pick them up.

I saw it on amazon today. Also as for the smell i kept mine in the plastic and throwaway yellow packaging for about two weeks after i opened it and it doesnt smell now.

Tonight, I decided to watch the original, "Evil Dead," again. The only copy of it that I have is the, "Book of the Dead," which I like. However, when I took the disc out tonight, I noticed that there were quite a few "surface scratches," on it; none looked deep, but they still worry me. I haven't watched it yet, but when I do, I hope it works perfectly.

I take excellent care of my DVDs, so I'm thinking that it's due to the stupid plastic sleeve packaging. I've been wary about it since I got the set, and I'm mad that the second, "Book of the Dead," is like that as well.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I got both the original release and re-released 2pack LE Book Of The Dead, and as I checked both releases' DVD data surface, got no scratch

If you own either Book of the Dead editions and have 0 scratches on your discs, consider yourself extremely lucky.

I noticed that my first Evil Dead BOTD disc had light scratches so I started keeping the disc in a clamshell case instead of keeping it in the book. When I got the second BOTD I immediately took the disc out and put it in a clamshell case, not a scratch on that disc.

That plastic page will scratch the disc over time.

I did the same thing the day I bought both of them. I knew right away that the plastic sleeve was bad news just waiting to happen.

Another reason I opted to ditch the case in favor of a custom cover. I still keep the BotD cases, I just don't store the discs in them.

i just keep them in slim cd jewel cases.
i do the same with alot of dvds.

I plan to just put both discs in keep cases now, because I don't want to risk them actually becoming damaged. I watched everything on the ED1 disc yesterday, and it worked fine.

I can't believe that the nasty condom/gasoline smell on this thing outlasted the battery for the scream when you press the eye.

I think it depends, if the one who bought it happen to have a shrinkwraped with no hole/perforations then it would really preserve the latex smell.

If you wish to remove the stinky smell, I suggest you have it placed under the sunlight for 5hours.

I thought the hype about the stench from the first book was blown out of proportion but the second one made me change my tune, it smelled horrible and gave me headaches. That said, both of my books are currently stench-free and the second one is still screaming as of about 10 seconds ago.
