Quadrophenia -- one quick question

The quick question is: is the Quadrophenia DVD (R1, distributed by Rhino) anamorphic?

I did some extensive searching of these forums, did a general google search, scanned all of the usual DVD review sites, and even contacted Rhino customer service (which is not getting back to me... Grrrr!). None of these turned up the info I was looking for. (The Columbia House DVD club website and the IMDB website both say it is anamorphic, but these don't strike me as authoritative.)

Anyway, if anyone knows for sure (or has this and can pop it in and find out for me) whether this is enhanced for widescreen TVs, I'd really appreciate it!

Nothing on the disc or box itself, which I have in my hand, would indicate that it is.

Jamie, is it possible for you to pop it into a player connected to a widescreen TV?

I just checked. It is definitely not anamorphic.

DANG!! Stupid Rhino!

But I'm glad I asked. (Aren't I glad I didn't just trust the Columbia House and IMDB sites.) Thanks to those who checked. I do appreciate it.

Re: Quadrophenia -- one quick question

I recently bought the two disc Region 2 U.K. DVD set and was pleased to see it was a new anamorphic transfer, included new documentaries, new 2nd audio commentary and was also a completely different version of the movie with at least 5 or 6 new scenes. I live in the U.S. and saw it in the theater when it came out and the version that came out on DVD in the U.S. is the same version I saw in the theater. The U.K. version has a lot of new scenes like Jimmy buying his mod clothes, getting his mod haircut and many new scenes with Jimmy courting Steph. Does anybody know what the story is on this? How could I have never heard about a different version of one of my favorite movies?
