Well, I guess we know the "unofficial" street date for Batman Begins.

Oh yeah, duh. I knew that, I just forgot for some reason. It's been awhile since I saw Gotham Knights. ****************** btw, a friend of mine noticed something odd about the current sets. Each of them are 28 eps, making for 84 total episodes. But tvtome(now tv.com) lists Batman TAS as being 85 episodes. So, where's the missing ep? edit- to answer my own question, despite the specs listed in many online shops (including Amazon.com), volume 3 has 29 episodes, not 28. |
Batman: Gotham Knights - Release Plans Revealed
From TVShowsOnDVD:
Warner Bros has revealed plans to release Batman: The Animated Series Volume 4 before the end of the year. The fourth volume in the series will include the 24 episodes of Batman: Gotham Knights, the series that began in September '97. We expect it to be released in December, though the studio hasn't made a formal announcement, and likely won't for at least another 3 months. |
Mike, see post #45.

Was it as good as the earlier episodes? I have all 3 volumes of the DVD. Is it worth getting the fourth volume? |

Just my 2 cents, but I loved the style/character design changes in BGK. It was time for a style change, and it gives the show a bit more modern look. Not better or worse, just different and fresh.
For those of you wondering whether to buy it, it had some fantastic episodes: Holiday Knights, the 3 part Christmas story--Harley, Ivy, Clayface, Batgirl, Joker... Cold Comfort-- Mr. Freeze's body finally gives out..with creepy results. Never Fear-- Jeffrey Combs as the SCARIEST scarecrow in all of the animated series! The Demon Within-- Jason Blood/Etrigan the Demon vs Klarion (that means something to any DC comic book geek out there....) Over the Edge-- voted the second best episode of the animated Batman series in an online poll conducted in 2002 to celebrate the series' tenth anniversary. Commissioner Gordon and Gotham PD vs Batman! Old Wounds --Nightwing reveals to Robin the story of his final days working alongside Batman and what lead to the divisions between them. Legends of the Dark Knight-- Three children tell each other their thoughts on what kind of hero Batman is. Two great reasons to love this episode-- 1.One little girl's idea of an older Batman and a female Robin are adapted from Frank Miller's classic "The Dark Knight Returns," right down to the art and dialogue from the comic! 2.While the three teenagers are running around, they meet a kid named "Joel" who has long hair and is seen stroking a feather boa in a department store window with a sign that says "Schumacher". He mentions "tight rubber armor" as well as claiming the Batmobile can go up walls. This is an obvious jab at Joel Schumacher. Girls Night Out-- Livewire escapes into Gotham City and teams up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn for a crime spree. With Batman out of town and Superman unavalible, it's up to Batgirl and Supergirl to save the day. Mad Love -- A Paul Dini classic -- Harley reflects on what led to her partnering with the Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker. Apologies to all those "in the know"-- just thought casual fans may be interested in this, and it provides some factual backup as to why this is a GREAT series! |
I appreciate the rundown on GK - I might have to pick up Vol 4 after all. Here's hoping the complete Batman Beyond is up next :)

One of my favorites from Batman: Gotham Knights is the episode with The Creeper in it!! PURE. COMEDY. GOLD!!!!!
Take care all!! |
I thought I'd start a new thread on this, but alas, I'll ask it here.
Any word on Superman: TAS Vol. 2? You think they'll release it with this new Vol. 4 of Batman? |

Thanks for the rundown on GK. I missed this entire series somehow
One more OT Superman question...will vol 2 have the Aquaman episode in it. Just behind Lobo he was one of my favorite guest stars during the Superman epsiodes. Another OT question/rant... I want more Justice League (in volumes, not this 3 episode stuff) Teen Titans and Static Shock :( Any news there? edit - just checked tv.com and Aquaman was season 3..so maybe it will be there. Just reading the episode guides...I've never seen the episode where Superman acts as Batman to rescue Bruce Wayne  Sounds cool! |

I know this was mentioned in post #45, but here are more details and a release date of December 6.
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3968 Batman: The Animated Series - Batman joins Supes and the 'Cats Posted by Gord Lacey 8/23/2005 This should be the last of the animated Warner Bros releases coming on December 6; the fourth volume of Batman: The Animated Series, which includes 24 episodes from The New Batman Adventures. In the hit show that continues the Batman storyline from the Emmy®-winning Batman: The Animated Series, two years have passed and Batman still protects the streets of Gotham City from the demented criminals that inhabit its dark alleys. But irreconcilable differences with Dick Grayson lead to the collapse of the Batman/Robin crimefighting duo and to the birth of Gotham's new hero Nightwing. Batgirl fights at Batman's side, and a new Robin takes flight after Batman's chance encounter with young Tim Drake. In these 24 thrilling episodes, the Gotham Knights face their worst enemies - Joker, Penguin, Mr. Freeze and many more - in a comprehensive 4-disc set that completes the Batman animated saga! Unfortunately that's all we know for now, though we assume the set will contain some bonus features. Suggested retail price is $44.98; we'll have artwork when it's made available. |
I finally got vol 1-3 this week so I'm excited to get this set as well. I would also be very interested in Batman Beyond, Superman and Justice League getting their complete series on DVD. The new Batman series though is completely unwatchable for me so I will pass on that one.
