The Truman Show: SE -- 8/23

As per The Digital Bits, The Truman Show: Special Edition is coming on 8/23, complete with anamorphic widescreen (no aspect ratio specified), deleted/extended scenes and a two-part documentary. Cover art is available there, too, and it looks nice.

Now that is some cool cover art! I remember seeing that poster at the theaters when I was there way back when.

I was hoping they'd use this art in some form, though it obviously works better as a poster. I'll definitely be picking this up, as I sold off the barebones release years ago and never got around to rebuying it.

I was tempted to pick this up when it hit the $5.50 bin at WalMart but glad I held off. Like everybody else has said, nice cover art and can't wait to pick it up.

I recently caught this on cable and was hoping for a bonus-ladened, OAR version and so I'll take this one . Perfect timing, this is such a good movie. Carrey has real talent.

Great news - I also held off on the current release, though I've been tempted many times - patience IS rewarded!

It was hard not to pick up the old, cheap version but I'm glad I held off. Will get this one for sure.

Read up on this title at imdb and various websites. There was amazing stuff about what went into the characters of the film. All the actors got to create backstories that were really elaborate. Not only did the create the character's backstories, but the actors playing the character's back stories.

Plus I really want to see the shot after the first camera falls of Truman looking up and seeing the 'hole in the sky' patch itself.

Alas, no commentary. I would love to hear Peter Weir talk about this. Or maybe a social historian commentary.

Amen! This really is an outstanding film and brilliant in such subtle ways. The use of Philip Glass' music and the cinematography at the beginning of the film is especially memorable. I owned it for a long time but sold it a while back in hopes for a re-release with extras. Seems like my hunch paid off!
