"Microcosmos"...Hasn't It Been Out On DVD Before?
Is this just a rerelease of the original DVD or does it have extras?
The packaging looks as though nothing has been added.
Or is it just a price drop?

As far as I know, this never came out on DVD.
It was supposed to over a year ago but the release was postponed.

The DVD was NEVER released in R1 land-United States. There was a port of the French disc (just as so many other French films) that was licensed for French speaking Canada and the post above is correct as non-US/R1 version was indeed sold through Amazon.ca. This was a simialar scenario to what happened with Winged Migration which was also released as a port of the 2DVD French set though only with a 2.0 English track.
Regardless this is the first time Microcosmos is being released in English speaking R1 land (sans the above correction). In addition, this official release was twise canceled by the studio and given a new street date.
