Extended warranties on DVD's.
I was asked yesterday at Circuit City if I wanted to get an extended warranty for my DVD's (he called it something else though...can't remember what) for $1.99 a piece! (good for up to one year) I let out a good laugh and mentioned I already took good care of my DVD's. He took it in stride and said they had to ask now.
So, how long has this been CC policy? I don't recall seeing anything about it. I always thought it'd be funny if stores started asking this, but couldn't believe it's actually happened!
So, anyone taken them up on their DVD coverage plan?

"Protection Plan"?
Clue One: they wouldn't push it so hard if they didn't make money off it.
1.99 to 'protect' a DVD for a year. And it has to be *that* dvd that gets broken. Better off sticking 1.99 in a piggy bank every time you buy a dvd/game, and if/when a dvd gets broken buy a replacement. Which will probably cost 1/2 as much as it did when you first bought it.
I've had one cd/dvd break--Printmaster Gold. My dog ate it. My boy plays with some cd's/dvd's/games, but if I care about it getting broken, I keep it away from him.

Circuit City is not the only major chain to offer an extended warranty on DVDs. My local Toys R Us is doing the same thing. Like dtcarson said:

On the bright side, Fox will replace dvds that your dog ate for a nominal fee. If the nubs on the disc holder were broken when you opened the box, as happened to me with Buffy Season 4, the replacement for the holder is free.
