The He-Man sets look to be awesome with their restoration, but will Thundercats and any others that might be coming down the pipe.
What I'm concerned about the most is the backgrounds. Weren't the backgrounds in Thundercats and in He-Man kinda bland blurry drawings that would turn into moving lines to simulate motion? |

There are now kids running around here and even if I think that the animation might look cheezy I'm sure my nephews will love it specially if the like the ninja turtles and dragon ball z. I can't wait to get it for me and for the little kids around. |
It depends how well you can open that golden door to be alittle kid again. Given rash amount of posts here about Knight rider and other 80s shows now suddenly sucking I suspect alot cheese factor complaints.

Today the we have umpteen different versions of shows like C.S.I. and Law and Order along with espionage shows like La Femme Nikita, Alias, Dark Angel, and 24. Of course the use of CG special effects in everyday shows where before you'd only get them in big feature films have changed the way people look at older pre-1990 shows. Same goes with pre-1990 or for that matter pre-1995 cartoons. Today most toons use computers to aid in the animation, before that, everything was hand drawn and certain elements weren't done with as much detail and care as they are now. Like for example, the backgrounds in those pre-1990 toon. The characters were usually fine, but the backgrounds were skimped on. I don't know how many folks have seen the 2003 MTV Spider-man series, but I'd love to see all new toons done in that way. I haven't seen Appleseed yet, but I think that may be the new direction animation goes. Supposedly Appleseed is the first in a trilogy, and I can't wait to see what comes next with that series. |

It's true. Anyone who grew up watching this and then later on saw the Cartoon Network reruns, or even have the Movie on tape, would be pretty disappointed. Once in a while something from your childhood was actuallly so bad it becomes good in a schlocky way that it becomes watchable again.
(Check out the Live action version of Photon. WTF!??) It's pretty typical of action cartoons: cutting to commercial when somone's in danger, then everything's ok when they cut back, uncontrollable laughter for a corny joke an the episode's end, etc. The animation and color holds up fine, and there are interesting characters and plot setups, but it's still a just a big excuse to have action scenes in an attempt to sell overpriced toys to kids. (The tribal drums during fights was pretty cool though.) And the spinoff Silverhawks was as innovative as this, but it's basically the same good vs evil show with the same voices as well. (Cool extra they should include are those outtakes of everyone cursing that was all over the net a few years ago. Anyone remember that?) |
I'm looking forward to this. I can't wait till August i'd only wish they would finally release Real Ghostbusters as well.

I'm just sad that it wasn't as good as I remembered. And yeah, I do think kids would like it today. |

Does anyone have any info with regard to what episodes will be included on this set, i.e. production order or airdate order?
|
Are the episodes likely to be subject to censorship at all?
I remember those funny Thundercats bloopers  |
I wish the bloopers would appear in the form of an easter egg.
|
This comes out in roughly a couple weeks. Is there any info yet as to what episodes will be included, i.e. production order or airdate order?

You know, I didn't realize this was coming out next week. I've been waiting for this for so long and I kinda just forgot that it was so close. I guess I didn't realize it was even August. For some reason, I didn't expect it till the end of this month anyway. Then, while at work, I went to the warehouse and there was a co-worker holding a copy, a whole box resting on the new release shelf. I got pretty damn excited. The cover art is a hologram and there are two discs per slim case, for those wondering. This looks like the only thing I'll be picking up next week. Surprisingly, it's not in our ad for next week and we only got 8 copies in, so if you plan on buying it at Best Buy, depending on your store, you might want to get there early Tuesday morning. Employees at my store will no doubt cause this to sell out quick. I can think of at least 4 of us buying it on Tuesday, including myself. This looks like something people will constantly be asking for and we'll constantly be sold out of. We always seem to under-order titles like this and shoot ourselves in the foot. Maybe they're not expecting much interest. The price, according to the website, looks to be $45.99, eventhough the sticker says $54.99 or so, and we don't usually discount titles that aren't in the ad. Well, I know I can't wait. And I know what I'll be doing all day next Friday.

You don't get to buy a copy early when you work at Best Buy?I thought getting stuff early would be one of the perks from working there. |

Dont know if its been said, but the cover is holographic-like *edit* guess it was said |
yah i was real suprised to see amarays in a box set...and you can feel the six disc in the box...heavey and the center tray makes that noise.
|
I thought the $40 plus price tag was a mistake because I thought that the first season was going to be released in volumes, but when I searched for it appears the whole season will be released as the 6 disc version you're talking about.
But some online stores have different volumes as well, so it looks like you can buy 3 different volumes separately, with 2 discs each, that go for about 17 bucks for each set. Very little stores carry those, and only a few more carry the full season boxset. |
Have there been any reviews of this set yet?
